Thank you for posting such thoughtfully informative videos about moving to Charleston! I'm planning to move there later this year and your videos have been so helpful. Do you have any recommendations for safe walkable neighborhoods with a more quaint & cozy vibe? Preferably with bookshops & cafes? :)
That was a great video, especially the earthquake bolts. We have them on our 1832 federal style home in southwestern PA. Also, we mostly don’t drink either, since we prefer our brain/liver cells intact. So, stay sober, you’ll remember much more of life’s good moments!
@@thecharlestonlife you’re welcome. People think of southeastern PA as having all the history but the southwest actually has older history, I’m talking French & Indian War (Seven Years War), so more like between the founding of Charleston and the Revolution. If you’re ever making the trek let me know! I’ll give some pointers!
Charleston is such a old town going as far back as the 1700s. I had no idea it has the US's oldest museum and theatre, thank you for letting me know even more reasons to visit Makayla😍!
Having lived in South Florida, we would come to Charleston and Savannah and not really notice humidity. What I always said was that you're not the only one sweating... Everybody is leaking!
A video suggestion for you, my dream is to live in an apartment or condominium that has a marina for boats and I searched to see if there are any videos about this in Charleston there are none if you do it it will be great
There’s a few in Downtown Charleston that are close to the city marina! 2 apartments that are are The Caroline and West Edge. Condos that are close to that also are the Bee Street Lofts!
so question. what town/area would you consider safe enough from flood zones, and mandatory evacuations but still not be hours from the coastal communities. my wife and i have visited Beaufort county a couple years in row now, and really love it, but the term low country can take on a new meaning with say, what is gonna happen there over the next few day with all the rain.
Downtown Charleston has more flooding than other parts of town, but areas like Mount Pleasant, West Ashley, parts of James Island and John’s Island, and Summerville are less likely to flood. But honestly, the storm coming through now is just not a normal occurrence. Usually hurricanes or tropical storms come through over the course of a day or 2. This storm is stalling over Charleston, which never happens, so I definitely wouldn’t use this event as a baseline!
Great job on the video! I am thinking of moving to Charleston and was wondering if there are long term rentals or just homes for sale on Sullivan's Island.
Thank you so much! And they have a very small amount of rentals on the actual island, but you can find some that may not be on the island, but are still close. I’d be happy to help you out! Feel free to email me at makayla.west@cbrealty.com
awesome explanation, can you do a video on the best places to live for singles? (20-30's) Not necessarily for dating, but just to meet people, build connections and friendships. Born and raised in NY and planning on relocating to Charleston in 2025. Leaving all my friends so meeting people from the jump is crucial for me... Orrr maybeee a pro's and cons list of the various options you went over. Assuming there's trade offs for each location.
My 22 year old daughter is relocating to Charleston for a nursing position. She wants to be in a young area of course. Daniel’s Island is beautiful but is it’s good choice for her? Other young areas you would recommend? She is working in Summerville but would prefer living around halfway between there and downtown Charleston
Charleston (named Charles Town after the British King) is an AMAZING historic city. South Carolina is a wonderful state and Charleston is one of, if not the best city in America.
We live about 2 hours north of Chucktown, there about 2 times a month and stay at The Charleston Place. Our go too's are. SNOB, Halls Chop House, Husk, High Cotton, Fig and Poogans Porch for brunch. Palmetto Grill on site at hotel. also decent Also love the Tattooed Moose in Mt Pleasant thanks for the vid and suggestions
If you can afford to move into an extremely cost inflated house and send your kids to a private school you will be okay as long as you don’t have to go anywhere.
We stumbled across your videos and have watched almost all of them. They’re so great and you’re really awesome at breaking things down. Keep making them please 🥰♥️
