I didn't know this edition has been around since for over 40 years; it's got very beautiful illustrations. I got an older and smaller sized Vintage Children's Rainbow Bible and while it's older (having been around since the 1950s) it looks similar to this one (collecting Bibles is a thing I do).
Yes ma'am, it was first published in 1987. I know a lot of parents get this for their child's first Bible. It's inexpensive and beautiful, I think that's part of the reason parents have kept using the Seaside Bible for so long.
Um, no. This book is one of the worst "Christian" books to ever exist, and Michael and Debi Pearl are minions of Satan rather than true Christians, and I'd make sure to keep any future children of mine far away from this book or the Pearls. Matthew 18:6, Mark 9:42, Luke 17:2, and especially Matthew 26:52.
Okay, I understand that you feel that way, but would you please give an example of them doing something evil? I didn’t see anything bad in this book. I thought they had some helpful advice.
@@fundamentalbaptistbooks Corporal punishment is *not* helpful, when it comes to raising children, it's actually quite abusive and more harmful, and there are three cases where parents who followed this book ended up beating their children so badly they killed them (look up the cases of Sean Paddock, Lydia Schatz, and Hana Grace-Rose Williams, RU-vid unfortunately erases comments with links) and were arrested for it. Other problems with this book is how it relies too much on Old Testament scripture and how the Pearls, like other authors such as James Dobson, Gary Ezzo, and Roy Lessin ignore New Testament scripture when it comes to discipline.
@saintsheepy6682 I understand what you are saying, but does a handful of bad parents mean that something doesn't work? If you don't mind me asking, what New Testament scriptures are the authors you mentioned ignoring? In this book, Mr. Pearl recommended parents use a wooden spoon or a pencil for corporal punishment. He said that pain wasn't the goal, but to teach the child that there are consequences to our actions. He specifically says not to beat kids. Before I look into it, my guess is those parents who blamed the Pearls just didn't want to take responsibility for their actions. It is like blaming a marriage counselor if I get a divorce. Whether or not their advice was good isn't the problem, my choices would be the problem.
