Trained in the ancient art of trail espionage and infiltration. All pertinent trail information is researched and a plan of attack is formed prior to mission launch. The mission starts at the trail head and continues until complete. These video's serve to provide valuable information to other bike ninja's who wish to learn more about the trails involved and improve their stealth riding skills. The riding is mainly focused in Quebec and Ontario with some mission exploits abroad in the US now and then.
@@chriscoote2690 yeah that's Naismith, it's super unique and fun, just wish they'd maintain it. It was pretty clean 4 years ago. Not sure what's going on.
Dude! When I look up new trail systems to try out, I look to see if Bike Ninja videos are up! You always give a good description and evaluation of the trails and your videos are beautiful! Always appreciated, good sir!
Green's an ok XC/Cardio loop. I wouldn't do the blue unless on an ebike, just too long and raw (which I doubt it will ever get fully burnt in). Reward/Pain ratio isn't there. Super nice back country loop though.
yeah they rent Rocky Mountain enduro bikes. Highly recommend renting one. I was really wishing I had an Enduro bike at the time. You can get down any hill on any bike, but there is always the right tool for the job and an enduro bike would be the best fit for this venue. Have fun!
Many Thanks John for this video. Wow! You did a great job showing and explaining the trails. This gives a great expososure to Leslie Park. As you were saying, the site is great for families, both Castor trails are good for mountain bikes, running or walking. Their are many options to take advantage of the site. Either staying at a campsite for few days or just spending the day, it gives the option to combine the trails, picnic and spending the rest of the day at the beach. Anytime you are back John to Leslie Park, give us a shout. We will be happy to ride with you again. Thank you!
Salut Seb, Merci. I had a great time riding with yourself, Shawn and the family. Thanks for all the hard work. You definitely have a magical little spot there. I look forward to coming back out later. À la prochaine. Bonne ride!
Hey BN, thanks for the video of my local. It does need work, that's for sure. I think Forest Valley residents may have some resistance in supporting the upkeep for mtb because of the potential for increased traffic, but dog poop in the forest is fine...anyway. Most orleans residents head for Larose because it's so close. I do enjoy a quick run through these trails though, they can still be a ton of fun. Cheers!
I remember riding the Demonique trail last year on my Genius when my front break went "bye bye". I couldn't finish it. To be honest, it's a little more than I can chew! Love your videos!
Just rode there on the weekend. Loved the trails! Very cool and something for everyone. Even the mello stuff is interesting and lots of techy stuff for those who like challenging ups and downs. Thanks for posting this video! Love it!
eh, thanks for the comment, glad you enjoyed it. The new stuff is definitely an attraction. Yeah, I could even see Mastodonte being a green level run if the rider was solid with brake control...
Hey Jonathan, thanks for this, looks like it's come a long way in a couple of years, will hit it ASAP. BTW that would be Chateau Montebello, not Laurier ;)
Really enjoy Kanawane too. Went there Sunday with my new eMTB, and BOY does it do wonders in getting a load of laps in! It is refreshing to see a riders POV that has hesitation, skill, and difficulties that is similar to my own. I have zero issues riding the greens and blues at Kanawane, but the blacks are a different level, there almost seems to be a gap in progression from the most difficult blue to the easiest black. I have attempted, and walked portions of 1960 and Rocky Balboa, and because of that I didn't even try the other blacks (Trail #29 and Bas/Lower 17b). How would you rank their blacks from easiest to hardest?
all their blacks are about the same, they all have short, more difficult sections through out. Makes it a bit of a pain if you're trying to progress. Go through each one methodically and try to get through each feature. That's how you progress. I do that with double blacks, drops and bigger features now :) all about a nice, calculated progression.
@@bikeninja956 Will have to take that approach next time I'm up there. With the eMTB, it makes sessioning a particular trail worth it, because getting back up is no longer the battle. Where on my normal MTB, I'd want to get as many fun runs in as possible. That one steep rock "drop" you struggled on I've looked at and said "NOPE" many times. It's the sudden transition that throws me off mentally.
@@KDubber rock drop where I fell? yeah, you need to take it diagonally so you land in line with the trail. It's almost roll-able that way too. Still an awkward feature for sure.
Been there a couple times. Went in through the Reine des Bois school yard. Its decent and I could see the eb coming in handy. I prefer the longer drive to Larose.
I really wish we had a network similar in size to SMH here in Orleans. Bilberry is just small and many trails that start interesting often come to an impassible end. Wish the trails expanded further on both sides of the creek and further South from Des Epinettes.
if you're living out that way, it would be a good place to do some quick laps, test new bike settings out etc. not really a true MTB network... I had fun though. I'm a sucker for pine tree's and valley's. Just needs to be 6000ft higher :P
@@bikeninja956 I'm only a few minutes from there and ridden it a few times, I lose interest in there pretty quickly. It's just unfortunate there's no half decent network within riding distance in Orleans, so the only option is to load up and drive 30 min to either Larose or SMH. Bilberry cloud be better if more of the trails on Trailforks were actually passable.
hey guys, so I think after trying out the Stance, with the burlier wheelset on this rocky, gnarlier terrain... I'd have to say it's still probably not the best setup for it. Giant equipped this model/level of bike with very basic suspension and I think that's the major bottleneck at this point (literally sticker warning on the fork saying not to jump or ride hard with this fork lmao). The current sus is perfectly fine for bike paths, gravel paths and trails from greens to light blue (intermediate) depending on the rock composition, but overall, it's not the right setup for harder, faster riding on rough terrain. So as much as I wanted to try to use this as a dual purpose emtb, even with the burlier wheelset, I will still have to be selective about what terrain I'm riding.
Nice informative video! 👍 Looking for places to go with the Mrs, so essentially looking for Blue trails. This place looks very nice for the couples program 😊. Thanks for the video, realize it’s 2 years old already I just recently discovered your channel. Cheers!
@@bikeninja956 same here buddy not sure about the warranty to be fair. I got the full bike for £1700! Basically I’m buying the components and getting the frame for free. Yes I’m in the uk. Think CRC/ wiggle have been bought now. But I think the business man’s just selling it all off
nice ride. Yeah I must have done +20km today. Basically all the trails including the new loops by the marsh. Totally agree, a combo of ridiculously good conditions and mild weather. I could have kept going. Having the e-bike helped too. Turbo all the way! So dope.
It's not boring to watch, it's difficult to watch because everything is white. It's like one big sheet of white. Nothing you did, it's the camera has a hard time showing us the difference between the trail and the rest. The 18 of, it was cold in the NCR...you are brave
oh no doubt, overcast and snow is a nightmare for the gopro.. turn your contrast up on your screen, should help a bit. Wasn't cold that day, maybe -8C. Beauty!
I wish it didn't take 10min to set up. I really wanted one of these glad i watched this first! I live about 3 houses and a small pond away from where i want to set it up. Backpack is genius but id rather not spend that long. Something on wheels would be ideal for me i think
yeah I feel you, @ that close def just build on wheels and haul it out. The setup is ok, backpack is pretty heavy and uncomfortable, I'd say a few km's pedal ride max with it on..
it wasn't that bad, just need to take your time and use the pre-threaded lines to help fish things through.. Yes, it doesn't have internal porting so I definitely used foam. I even used it in the chain stays. That doesn't have to be perfect, just as long as the majority of the housings on the inside are covered with it..
Do we have to pay to use the trails? I've never been there. Cost please? Do they blow the leaves in the fall? I'm asking if it is a place where mountain bikers are allowed or a lot of dog walkers who complain that bikes are there. I don't mind paying for a place to just do mountain bike to avoid pedestrians.
