Great review! Been thinking of getting this but the fact that it is 5 years old, I'm thinking there will be a 2024-2025 version coming soon. Buy now or wait?
Question- was this be for you joined tacklewest? Because your setups there are Shimano, and TW only advertise/sell Daiwa. Seems funny that as soon as I see you not on TW, you are on a vanford/zodias combo…
Sure was mate. I used to use a large mix of brands as I was figuring out what worked best for me. Shimanos entry/mid level gear was a bit more accessible to me at the time. I still test some of their gear and rate it highly. However I do really enjoy using my Daiwa gear a lot these days.
Hi. Could ya reccomend anywhere on the blackwood (pref closer to nannup) to fish from the bank? Heading down for a few days riding but hoping to stop for a morning or even along the river for a flick. Thanks, love your vids
well sues bridge and up isnt tidally affected so its freshwater. You can catch trout there but It'll be very hard with the decline in water clarity and dodgy stocking. Around bridgetown there's lots of redfin. Alexander bridge has good bream.
I'm interested in the fishing but really loud annoying music means I can't watch the fishing. You need to choose between DJ or fisho. Can't watch fishing because the music is so load. I'm into fishing not load music!!
Its cheap as, in the scheme of things. About the same as a quality pair of shoes. Given if its your main recreational activity, spend some decent money and enjoy the quality of the mid range reels.
What size Saragosa and braid would you recommend for legal size Kings, Snapper etc around Sydney and surrounding East coast? ...(from kayak and possibly land based)
Yeah, to each their own, but I think by keeping them all you’re doing the entire fishery a favour. Less Marron predation, less stunted Reddies and tasty fillets. Win win win. So long as people take them all with them and don’t leave them on the banks.
Welcome! I’ve owned and fished from both the PA12 and PA14 as well as the older style outback. The new outback has far better manoeuvrability and steering responsiveness. It doesn’t get pushed around by the wind anywhere near as much. It has stacks of storage space and mounting options. It’s also quicker and easier to peddle at a decent pace. I’ve had it in some really rough conditions and it handles it all brilliantly. I’ve never felt unsafe. The only downside is the nose sits a fraction low so you get the occasional splash in light chop. But you’re on a kayak so you’re always gonna get wet to an extent.
Hi! thanks for the video. I need a shore jigging reel for my Majorcraft Solpara rod 1002H 60-100g. I'm about to choose between Saragosa, Bg MQ and Penn Slammer III. What reel and what size would you suggest me? I would go with a 40lbs Braid for about 300m. Thank you!
Not slammer III for sure, way too heavy. I have Stradic sw 6000 hg and slammer 5500, the weight difference is about 200 grams, it is tiring especially for jigging. Now I only use slammer for surf fishing cuase I don’t have too hold it. Now I am going to buy another reel and I am thinking getting the new gosa.
