I just did this today and it worked. I did not go into turn based mode. And got the armor. But, I also did not know that it kills all of my grove quests, so now I'm in the process of starting over because I didn't have a save left before I did the trick. lol.. Anyhoo. It works for me on pc. oh and i did not go all the way to the dragon either. i just simply walked through the mountain pass and went straight to cut scene. and raphael was in the cmp
does getting the first tadpole specimen trigger raphael? I haven't looted any but did trigger the Embrace Your Potential quest but I don't wanna go to the mountain pass yet since I'm not done w the goblin camp yet
You can do the entirety of act 1 before moving on to mountain pass and triggering Raph's camp spawn. The only requirement to get the armor is to make sure Raph is attacked by a companion during his first spawn.
@@Loxsas21 thank you! I actually already did it and managed to get the armor and 10k gold outta him. as far as i knew going to the mountain pass would ruin certain quests if you don't do them in time (goblin leaders and the grove, and karlach's paladin thing) but at the time didn't take into account waukeen's rest and voss's silver sword. i was heartbroken when i realized i missed my only chance of getting the spellsparkler 😭😭
is it possible to like shoot raphael, then do all the act 1 stuff, and then head to mountain pass? like can i still do underdark etc? I'm going for 100% completion on honor mode.
Great Guide! I can confirm that you only need to do everything up until 1:45 in a rushed manner. You can go to the Mountain Pass once you've completed the time sensitive quests (goblin/druid stuff) and Raphael will still show up and drop his armor/xp. You're able to do all of the underdark stuff even after visiting Moonrise Towers, so the only concern is the goblin/druid stuff. I strongly recommend doing those quests rather than rushing into the Mountain Pass because you'll miss out on a ton of xp by doing so.
I have a great axe like that one but it's golden and you can find it in the under dark in a dwarf camp and I have been using that one the entire game and it has not failed me even one bit
Hide your main character before you cast silence. When the oathbreaker aggros on one of your companions, you should be able to attack Raphael safely as long as your not in the oathnreakers line of sight. Once Raphael is down, use ivisibility spell on the companion locked in combat to flee towards the mirror
AH BUT WAIT, THAT'S NOT ALL! If you're playing on PC (can't guarentee it will work PS5 or XBOX). After you've spent five to ten minutes pummelling Raphael to get the helldusk armor, didn't you think "I wish there was more." WELL THERE IS TRUEBELIEVER. After you've knocked him cold and looted him, wait for him to recover, with his whole one hit point. Make sure you still have non lethal on and the silence is still up. KNOCK HIS ASS COLD AGAIN! Loot him! He will have a bottle of wine and between one hundred and two hundred gold. Knock him cold again! Another one hundred or two hundred gold again. Did you forget to loot him the last time you knocked his infernal ass out? NO WORRIES. That gold and wine will be waiting with the next amount of gold and wine. Eventually the silence will drop (I'm assuming shadowheart failed a concentration check). But wait, Shadowheart is at least level three, which means she's got a couple of more casts of silence. Silence that screwed up denizen of Avernus, and repeat. After three periods of silence I got the 1400 xp, the helldusk armor and....wait for it......18000 in gold! Save boys and girls, because Larian has to fix this at some point! Happy Gaming!
if you speed run: yes. I spend around 50 hours in Act 1 on my first playthrough. So for a not speed run it will take at least 10 hours to finish them. @@user-ow8mq4jo8c
@@user-ow8mq4jo8c yea but the video doesn't mention it, so people will think they can do this before doing those quests, just to find out they can't do them now, hence this warning.
You forgot to point out what to say to her during the second part of the conversation. Specificly the choice to take him from her is what turns Bitter Divorce into Second Marrage. Without that, she'll take him back with her to Baulder's Gate to look for some way to "cure" him.
ps5 and pc this is still working, if you are entering turn based combat don't, I don't know why people are entering turn based combat when the video said nothing about entering turn based combat.
you can keep knocking him out too, and you get 170-200 gold over and over again. I made over 7k gold off him before I accidently talked to him instead of hitting him lol.
Doesn’t work here (PS5). As soon as the cut scene starts and I try to switch, the cutscene keeps going on and my party ends up in his lair. What am I doing wrong?
@@TheErmo87 gotta ungroup the party so they don't all follow, then when the dialogue pops up you can click something that will let you switch characters.
no he doesn't what part of the video said to enter turn based combat. you don't enter turn based combat. just talk to him and switch characters@@jackward1087
