Bro you didn't have a lifter noise, this is the normal sound of a mercedes diesel indirect injection. Maybe they were only wear out a bit but i didn't feel like a bad sound even at the start of the video
All these engines make the clack sound, every single one of them, but only on idle. My own 602 has made this sound since I bought it 10 years ago, at 83,000km, now at 140.000km, It still runs fine and never misses a beat. Still makes the clack clack clack noise on idle. It will be fine.
Hola, desde Arg. Las precámaras son solo cámaras para que dentro trabaje el inyector? O poseen una bolilla con un resorte? Que trabaja con los tiempos de inyección? Esa es mi duda, muchas gracias!
As far as I can tell the sound is slightly better. I have not touched it since last video. I’ve been trying to figure out what to do next. I love it, but it is mostly my project car so I am not in a rush. I am thinking I might check injector pump next or look at injectors again. I did compression and it seems pretty good.
I have the same problem. But i am right or the sound hasnt improved a lot? Maybe the camshaft? Thanks a lot, im about to perform the same exact repair and your video has given me a lot of clarification.
Yes, camshaft was one tooth behind where it needed to be. Basically camshaft and crankshaft timing was way off out of alignment (by one camshaft tooth) and yet my injection timing was perfect. After I fixed timing car was running perfectly and sounded 1000 times better! However, about 10k miles later I've noticed that my head gasket was leaking (exhaust in coolant) so I took engine head off and that's when I realized that someone replaced head gasket and did pretty bad job. Surfaces were not cleaned well and had pretty bad scratches. That's probably when they messed up cam/crank timing... I am planning to assemble everything back in spring/summer and will show some videos...
Thuis sounds for me like bad hydraulic Valve.lifters This engine have 10 hydraulic valve. Lifters And this sounds for me like bad coper rings in the fuelpump. 5 o rings. Thank me later.
Have you checked the belt tensioner? Sounds somewhat like hydraulic lifters. You can check them by removing valve cover - and you can also check chain stretch with valve cover off. If chain is stretched over 3 degrees you have to advance the pump timing. The other question is who rebuild your injectors. Maybe he set wrong (too high) injection pressure? It should be 135 bars. From my experience if pressure is lowered the engine is more quiet with no negative consequences (minimal 100 bars for nonturbo and 120 bars for turbo). Moreover I remomend geting monark nozzles, or at least bosh. Firad is crap.
