Haha, don't think it wise to fire ones uncle, pastor, and Dad (volunteers). We got the job done safely and in a single day. No doubt a pro crew could have smoked us.
This was a passion project more than anything. If I designed and built a rig like this, the payoff would be watching it work simply out of a sense of accomplishment.
Somebody has done some work with elevators. That's where those wheels come from. Any reason that this couldn't be used to bring up plywood? Work smarter not harder! Plenty of comments about how much faster they could do it. I think these were DIYers who were more concerned with their back than their time.
I made a similar hoist for a roofing job I'm having done. Mine uses the rails of a ladder, and I may install a ratchet mechanism to keep the load from sliding back down. I'll probably post a video when it's completed and working. Good idea!
Nice and economical. Forklifts and shingle delivery are easier obviously. I don't think I would have just put ladders and this lift right on the gutters. Thanks for sharing.
Roofing has come a long way I remember I used to carry 2 bundles up the later and also carried 3 like 2 times not being cocky just stating the truth and how it used to be and don't get me started on putting shingles the original way with a hammer
You could tie the rope on a old wheel rim bolted on a car ( standard shift ) have some one in the car , 1's gear let the clutch up , and launch the shingles. On drunk drivers at the wheel !
I have a better solution without using a ladder at all. I am looking for roofers, framers, contractors to ad to my list. Product launching soon. No more accidents, saves lives, money, time, no more workers com claims and Increase profits. Send me message to ad you to my list. My product will lift up to 10 sheets of plywood, 3 to 4 bundles of shingles, solar panels, trusses and much more. Hurry and get on my list prior to product launching. .e here on yoututbe
Nailed it, yup took a whole day to build. But it was fun to build, fun to see everyones smile when they saw it work, took a few riders up for fun, and made some memories... while roofing... normally a miserable job. And thanks to you all, ive made about $300 from youtube for this video. Oh and a friend borrowed it to haul brick for a chimney. It'll get used again.
It looks simple but something like that would be a full weekend project, at least. Making the plans or figuring out how its all going to come together, finding/buying the parts, and building it.
+Mike Speed it's " old men " roofers who've forgotten more than you know right now about roofing & we are the men who #1 Instruct youngsters how to install complicated systems and #2 Inspect the work you do and point out your mistakes to be corrected ,very few youngsters with attitudes like yours are real roofers to begin with ,a shingle installer isn't the same as a roofer .
Excellent one. It is reasonable for to all for design but if you upload a video how to design this with illustrating. i want to make it at my home. it is very very wonderful. No need power. really wonderful...
My dads gonna be redoing the roof this weekend and were gonna attempt this to make it much easier. I was wondering if it is possible to have two or three stacks instead of one?
seems a helluvalot safer than carrying those bastards up a ladder and onto a roof. as i was watching i was thinking it'd be a lot easier with a block and tackle and a second later i realized i wasn't the only one with that thought :)
