another tidbit that might or might not apply to Steel Haze Ortus: It is close to Orthrus/Orthus from Greek Mythology, one of Cerberus' brothers - and a two-headed Hound, perhaps indicating Rusty's double allegiance.
notable with the Itano Circus reference: Kawamori Shoji, the creator of Macross, was also the original mecha designer for the Armored Core series and did designs for AC6
Excellent video. I kinda caught onto the plant stuff with Nepenthes and Xylem, but damn near everything else flew over my head. I like that the names tend to follow a theme and aren't just random gibberish like I kinda thought they were. Shows how much attention to detail they put into the game. "And you probably already know noticed that they're named after fingers on a hand." ...uhhh....yes. Yes, of course noticed that... 😄
A coldcall is a marketing technique, where the caller just calls people from a list, not expecting many answers. The only time we see him is when desperate iguazu hires him. His arena bio contradicts this theory though.
I tried to look up authors that Snail and Rusty could be based off of. I think Rusty could actually be referencing Doina Rusti, and the spelling change is a mistranslation. She's a romanian author who grew up under oppression. Her work is bold and idealistic, speaking truth to the evils she's witnessed, so it fits thematically with Rusty's character. Snail could be another mistranslation too, particularly of Willebrord Snellius, better known as Snell. He's a dutch astronomer and mathematician. He developed new rules for triangulation and formulating light refraction, which feels fitting for the defecto strategic head of the laser light-based weapon and generator-wielding Vespers.
Definitely plausible and honestly I think I would've preferred Snell over "Snail". It's hard to feel threatened by a dude named Snail even if he is flying around in a souped-up Balteus.
my take on carla is that she's intentionally taking advantage of the sarcastic naming convention since the others are obvious but we have little to no information on if she actually is a cinder, though she seems quite knowledgeable about C-weapons and institute tech as a whole
this video was supewr fun. i just recently really got into AC6, playing it 3 times is so fun for all the endings, the true ending was truly worth it. this game was such a special and unique experince and i seriously look forward to fromsoftwares future games
I think the irony of the "Cinder" in Carla's name comes from the fact that technically, yes, she is a cinder in the sense that she survived the Fires of Ibis, she was also part of the group that actually started the Fires, so she's less of a cinder and more of an arsonist.
I'm late, but I can't believe I didn't notice this. In Swinburne's emblem the brain looks almost like a late stage fetus or even a newborn in a fetal position. I'm not smart enough to know what that may symbolize, but now that I think abt it it seems like a big detail for no one (that I've seen at least) to even mention it,
I'm gonna have to come bs know for an in depth comment but I do believe the answer to Father Dol is the coral stream. It's referenced several times, ayre mentions it herself. If dols voices were akin to ayre, he took inspiration from the coral stream, and this part is more interpretation but it'd placed between humans and justice. To say we can not have justice as long as we fight for coral.
I was thinking, one of Walter's lines is "undo the surgery, be normal again" which alludes to medical technology in the Armored Core lore being so good that humans can get a full organic body replacement and not just a metallic augmented one. if Carla is said to APPEAR young, could she have had a surgery that replaced her old organic body with a new organic body? that would make her appearance very different than her actual age.
For Carla's nickname, it's highly likely she gave herself that nickname as a "red herring" to hide her real identity. Since everyone else in her faction uses nicknames that are the exact opposite of what they are, calling herself cinder implies she is *not* one, so if anyone tried to track her down they'd just be thrown off the trail
Snail’s name comes from his AC specifically his legs because they cannot walk and only slide just like a real snail. There is also the phrase “slippery snail” this connects to V II because he is a slimy person that always gets away with it.
4:50 I am pretty sure it's for Emma to use. Otherwise it would be really hard to explain how Emma can be at Dilapitated Temple when she needs to take care of Isshin.
You completely missed the fact that Swinburne's emblem is not just a lobotomy, but a lobotomy on a brain in the shape of an unborn child, which is likely an ironic show of disdain toward Arquebus for his re-education. That the person he could have become was essentially aborted before he could truly come to his full potential. His lack of attachment to Arquebus, being willing to give up and pay using Arquebus funding to bribe someone out of killing him is probably a result of a lack of resolve due to emotional damage from re-education, as well as not caring enough about his position or corporate affiliation to want to fight to his potential death. His enjoyment from threatening someone with the idea of re-education seems to be more out of a desire to see someone who hurts him face a similar amount of pain to what he faced rather than merely wanting that for the sake of it.
I assumed Carla's was meant to be ironic since she wasn't a survivor of the Fires, she helped cause them. She help cause the disaster and was already at safe distance when it kicked off.
For Elcano's Fortaleza legs, it could also translate to fortress, and I believe that it may be more accurate(? It is a lot more fitting for something that you would use for a faster tank build imo
I think open faith means that Snails allegiance has always been open to everyone. His 'faith' has always been with Arquebus and its stupid to trust that Snail will help you instead of Arquebus because of how 'open' his 'faith' is.
You say "possible translation error", i say "active pun." Open Faith, otherwise known as Open Theism, is a form of Christianity positing that faith and science can and should coexist. "Open-Face" meanwhile, is more of an ironic thing. He's claiming to be open about himself and his faith in Arquebus, but quite earnestly thinks he's the only genius in the entire damn company. Taken together, this could mean he knows - or thinks he knows - more about what's going on in Rubicon than he lets on, and knows it's a good idea to NOT show how much he knows.
14:14 Regarding Milktooth, the name comes from Carla, given that it was the first AC developed by R.A.D., her "baby", hence the reference toward milk teeth that children or babies have. Brute stole it after tricking Carla into some kind of relationship. Brute's nickname comes from her, as she spread it to showcase how he's a psychopath that lies constantly. This is heavily implied in his mission, where he acts "charmingly" and friendly as players make their way to where he's at, only for him to treat the whole fight as some kind of dance (Which is probably a link he has with Carla, given that her musical theme has lots of jazz influences) That is probably another callback to her Rubicon Institute past, as we can clearly see Institute City using a very 20th century's aesthetic for its architecture and clothing in the log sketches.
