I’m a year late to the convo, but here’s my theory: Paimon is in fact a Seelie. The way Seelies are described is vaguely similar to the abrahamic concept of angels, especially in the Old Testament. Angels would often take the role of messengers and protectors of old Israel, giving wisdom to humble servants of God. Seelies also guided the humans of Teyvat, essentially being an extension of Celestia to help humanity lead good lives on Teyvat. As for their curse, this holds also similarity to the Old Testament where angels that sided with Satan would lust after the women of the earth and would materialize themselves in antediluvian times to have relations with them, which spawned the hybrid race of the Nephilim. After the great flood, God took away their ability to materialize. Seelies follow a similar “curse” just in PG-13. Falling in love and entering a romantic relationship with humans is frowned upon by Celestia, hence this curse was set upon them where they also probably lose all of their powers and eventually turn into the wisps that we meet across Teyvat. That’s why Paimon will be a very crucial character in the story. I theorize that Paimon’s journey with the traveler is not only a way for Celestia to keep tabs on us at all times, but is also a rite of passage for Celestia to imbue Paimon with the powers of a God, similarly to the one we meet at the beginning of the game. They take reference from the New Testament, where Jesus regained knowledge of who he truly was through baptism, regaining some of his power bestowed by God to help humanity. Once Paimon completes her journey with the traveler, she may very well undergo her own baptism, meaning that she may very well initially betray us once that happens. As for how the story ends, I got a bunch of ideas, but they all involve sacrifice. Sorry for my essay. Just food for thought. ❤
Hello, since the beginning of Aranyaka Im sure that Nara Varuna is the traveler twin. I have a proof: I play as a traveler „guy“ and the Arana refer to nara Varuna as a girl, my daughter play as a travler „girl“ and the Arana refer to nara Varuna as a guy 🤗
Paimon being one of the last of the Seelie race, could explain why she’s seemed to regress during our travels with her. She started out as a guide giving us information on history and regions, and devolved into just being more about treasure and food. From the first part of the Sumeru quest we see how much she cares for the traveler, so if she has a the Seelie curse it would make sense why she seems to get dumber and more immature as the story progresses. It would also make sense why the Anara never call her Nara. They obviously recognize her, and I feel like that’s why Arama talked about seelies because he recognizes that Paimon is a Seelie and not a human.
@@arik.3745 Arama said the seelies were a ancient race who all died and only have one survivor. They could belong to celestia or could belong to Tevyat, they might be the original gods before celestia's invasion. Ahh there are so many theories, when will we find out about Paimon..... Why don't any of the in-game characters question paimon's existence
@@coolcub5251 yeahh... I don't get how lumine/aether think its fine to not question why paimon was drowning when she could fly? I think it was like a small dialog option that just led to paimon yelling at you.
There is a little more evidence to back this theory up as well. If you finished the last archon quest (and you listen to the sound of her floating away at the feast to get you food) you can hear a familiar chime. I highly suspect she is a seelie because Seelie are part of teyvat, and she also forgot the greater lord, while the traveler didn't.
Thanks! I was having trouble finding Xinyan and Fischl. I would’ve never forgave myself if I hadn’t spoken to them before the event ended, since they still don’t have anything in the main game 😭
