Has anyone ever told you that "you're too short or too tall", "you're not good enough", or "you're not the right ethnicity" to accomplish your dreams? I've been told that my whole life, and I'm sure you heard that too. This is a common response from people who put limits on their own abilities, don't understand success, and are not worth your time. I'm here to tell you that you can dream as big as you want and the only person who can stop you is YOU.

Hey coach. I remember seeing this when I was 16. I’m now 18 and I think it’s about time to get serious about my vert. Would this program be ideal for basketball as well?
That's pretty spot on. The only difference for me is that I use both hands for the toss up. I have two reasons for this. First is that it keeps my hands/arms symmetrical; both of my arms go forward at the same time, to allow them to go back behind me at the same time for the jump. Second, using two hands allows the ball to be spun the opposite direction (i.e. with backspin) when it gets tossed up into the air. When the ball gets hit with top spin (as it's backspinning) that can cause the ball to move a bit more erratically in the air, making it harder to pass.
Let me see..so you go around with a cart and pick the balls up. Then, take the cart to the machine. Then shoot every ball into the machine. Then take from machine and shoot into basket. Seems to me you are wasting time amd energy . Just shoot the balls from the basket. Not to mention, all the shooting into the machine is not accurate, and i bet it degrades skill because you can be off on you shot.
Coach, I can't fully agree with starting an approach that far out of the court. You basically eliminate a power line shot. A hitter's approach should basically follow the sideline in. And when you jump, you should be turned no more than 30 degrees from the net, not almost parallel to it. That turns the hitter's body in too far to be able to effectively hit line w/o having to do that poor-form cross body swing (that's like the difference between an arm punch and a full trunk rotation punch). And every outside swing you took in this video, the block was giving you at least two feet of line to crank.
It was one motion. Shouldnt be called. Rallies should go longer, not shorter. This is such a dumb technicality to call. Im already glad indoor is moving to less stringent reffing when it comes to these edge cases. We eventually allowed net touches on blockers if the ball pushes the net into the arm. This should be no different. If its on a waterfall and theres no lift, why stop the play? Seems pointless. Attackers already always have the advantage. Good defensive play and good reflexes should be rewarded.
Congratulations Coach Donny!! Well deserved. Also you taught me how to play back when i was in high school 7 years ago and I'm still playing now, so thank you for that! :)
Coach do you have any tips for left handed outside hitters(not opposite) cause i want to take my game to the next step but i need something more than weight training and the training we are doing in my club
I need someones help, im a left footed right handed person, ive been learning left handed but mainly right handed has been easier so ive mostly stuck with it, i can jump serve well and hit/ set decently. I started playing volleyball in general about 4 months ago and i just realized my running approach ends with my right foot in front instead of left, ive tried jumping "right handed" but i cant at all and feels super akward, should i progress my left hand spiking or change my approach to fit a right handed hitter?
Love your progressions with skills and ways to practice them. Super helpful for a new coach! Thank you! I viewed the hitting and serving drills today. I feel empowered to help my players. 😊
