This was really the very early years of the internet being used in commercial and home settings...before about this time it was almost exclusive to university techies, some commercial big business....this revolutionized the journalism industry within a decade, by 1991. The modem they show, which the phone handset is set into (old acoustic modem) ran typically at around 300-1200 baud (bits per second), so even with plain text a long article could take a little while to transfer over phone lines...I used these very same modems and computers in the 80s/early 90s....how far its come in 40 years, amazing.....but this piece is correct in that it wouldn't be too many years before most news was acquired via internet, which by 2000 more than half of the US population had at home. Still hasn't replaced newsprint entirely but the last 20 years have seen many smaller newspapers merge, fold or become weekly editions. Smart phones as we know them would have been science fiction in 1981...

You do realise, don’t you, that American presidents are constitutionally limited to two terms? Whatever happened, he would have been done by 1968, by law.

If Kennedy wasn't murdered and if he had perfect health then he would have been elected to his second term! However that's not the problem health conditions was. 1 Addison no Adderall glands high blood pressure broken back taking a pharmacy pills and injections daily put a high stress to liver and kidneys failure probably may had two years left if that so the point is mute!

As a Gen Z, I do agree with the distrust in the government and I've never seen a good democrat in my whole life. I can tell Kennedy was the last best and honest democrat we ever had, which is why the corrupt murdered him. And because the modern democrats have been traitors, I vote for Republicans. I would never give Obama or Biden a vote. And since Lyndon Johnson probably participated in the assassination as well, my vote would've even went to Richard Nixon. Because at least Nixon got America out of Vietnam War.

JFK had many enemies in the "deep state" and organized crime. Had he lived, he would have been re elected easily, but his past indiscretions (mainly with women especially East German prostitute) would have come to pass. JFK I believe woukd have resigned from office under weight of impeachment.

Ironically, I think things would have been a lot more conservative. On defense he was a reckless hawk, as proven at the bay of pigs. On Civil rights he was indfferent at best. He promised a group of Civil Rights bus riders that the Greyhound stations along their route were under federal jurisdiction, and would be secured by soldiers. When their bus arrived at the first station, it was not secured, and instead they were meant by cars full of Klan members who set their bus on fire, killing several of them.

If you want to understand the impact of religious intolerance in the 16th century, you should consult the horrendous records of the Inquisition in Spain and the Netherlands, and, if you are prepared to stretch the time lines a bit, the St Bartholomew's Day massacre and the Wars of Religion in France and the 30 Years War. It will uncover the massive hypocrisy of the Latin rite.

One major item that you had left out is that there was found an unsigned PRESIDENTIAL directive reestablishing gold and silver as the official money or coinage of the US .. And this unsigned document is more than likely the real reason as to why he was assassinated.. because it return the power back to the people from the government .. which no body in Washington would have been supportive off!

I think it's so good for our country that he died young because he was still the son of a completely cruel king. and then he demonstrated in his childhood that he was going to be like his father, he killed a bird with his own hands. if he had reigned long ago he would have made the people of our ancestors suffer, I even think that he would have been as cruel as the emperors Nero, Caligula and also worse than King Richard III and as fanatical as King Charles IX who made Saint barthélémi. In my opinion it is an excellent thing that he died, it is true that he was orphaned young but this does not excuse his behavior which could turn into fanaticism and cruelty the proof he even exiled his half sister Lady Mary who because she was Catholic yet she took care of him he has no recognition, he even approved the execution of his 2 maternal uncles he could have if he had a little humanity to veto but no Once again he shows that he is cruel. I pity the people who have had to endure the tyranny of this king, poor kingdom

Here's one: what if there was a ceasefire of the civil war and the Union and the Confederate states coexisted? LBJ is the president of the Confederacy while JFK is the president of the Union. JFK would have no reason to travel to Dallas and he would have been advised not to go because of security risks.

Interesting that he his points were seeing it on the screen and printing it out and saving not the more obvious potential benefit of receiving the news first…maybe they published the paper first then posted it online…if that’s the case there wouldn’t have been any point. Either way, it’s been interesting how this all evolved over the course of my life only now that I wish we all had less news since it’s become a form of entertainment for profit

I remember using the internet to do school research for my homework and thought of it as a library that never gets outdated... it's hard to believe some people thought this was a "fad" even though it was clearly usefull and was becoming more accessible by the late 90s.
