Has anybody ever tried fishing in the middle of Okeechobee like I mean like a mile offshore is there anything out there. There has to be something out there. Think about it. How big the lake is. There has to be fish out there somewhere. Has to be. Is there any grass or structure way out there? One of these days somebody is gonna find something on accident out there and find a spot of legends. And everybody is gonna go why didn't I think of that
@@user-lq1yb6uz1o No structure really at all, but that is where 75% of the fish in the lake live. Just hard to target the fish with no structure. Very nomadic out there but they’re there ! Caught a few fish 2 miles out in the middle today
Caught the biggest jack of my life on a nose hooked mini mullet. Had worn through front of the lure so I couldn’t rig it properly and just nose rigged it and worked it aggressively on the top. Jack demolished it.
The JH start up is critical when the target area is very small in highly pressured waters. The attention to details makes it worth it. I find them in the off season for $12 online. I started with an OG Chatterbait yrs ago and didn't catch anything for a long time. One day it got stuck in a tree and I left it there! I watched almost every video out there on vibrating jigs and my experiences came full circle, especially Matt and Tim over at Tactical Bassin. I have found over 7-8 vibrating jigs and the higher quality ones are usually salvageable and often STILL HAVE SHARP HOOKS even after spending some time snagged underwater. Over time I have found over a hundred quality, salvageable baits and the better ones last, handle use in hazardous areas, finishes are more realistic, come with better connectors and hooks. The EVO may have been a compromise between marketing and sales but I don't need any. I'm satisfied with the 20 vibrating jigs I have.
I love the Hack Hook .. never had a issue with it flipping up here in Central FL, I’ve heard some guys say they don’t like it because they can’t snell due to the keeper being so close to the hook eye.. but I stopped snelling years ago !!
Had a rough day in a tournament yesterday on Okeechobee. We fished and threw everything from 6:15 until 12:15 and not even a bite. We then went to the rim canal near the boat ramp and I caught one keeper and my partner filled his 5 bag limit in 30 minutes just in time to make it back for the weigh-in. The water on the lake was very dirty but the rim canal was clear and the fish were only biting there. No giants but at least we did not get skunked.
They knew exactly what they were doing. They suck and they can't find theyre own fish so they try to edge in on your area. No respect and very deserving of a lesson vebally or otherwise
That's how it started for me too. We would camp between the big rubber tree and the cut into boyscout. It was like 17bucks a night. We would rent one of the old blue boats and run all over the place in that thing. Hit the rusty anchor for entertainment too 😅. Those weekends created some fishing fools.
Your story as a kid at that campground is similar to mine at the same place. We would camp near the ramp for entertainment purposes when we were in for lunch or at the end of the day. 😂 I can’t pull into that place without getting choked up anymore. Such good times.
Its frustrating on a day like that losing fish. I had a day flipping on the harris chain i think i caught 1/10, nothing different about the day, same as always on the chain i was ready to give away my gear and sell my boat after that!
Have had a couple of those days myself where everything begins to spiral and it seems like I find a fun new way to lose each fish. Today was kind of like that, even though I only lost a few the one that felt like the biggest bite of the day was 100% on me behaving like an imbecile after being frustrated losing the prior bite. Good times haha
Definitely great rods. I like your comments on monofilament versus fluorocarbon. I still use both despite "pros" making me feel ignorant because I don't use fluorocarbon for everything....
congrats on the baby and the tournament. FYI, I too used to get sick several times a year. 2 1/2 years ago I went carnivore. Every aspect of my health is drastically improved. And I have not been sick one day.
