The same air is used both for the played and the note you are singing. So you cant simply play louder. The trick here is to focus the note you are singing and unfocus the note you are playing. Also, if the multiphonics are available within a given overtone series, you should choose a specific fingerings that include the note your are singing, as it is easier to get the note into a lock. Really incredible what Ricardo Matosinhos manages to do with the horn. He made me travel to the frozen steppes of Mongolia and suddenly there is this Kerry Turner-style dance mixed with Arkady Schilkloper in 5/8. Totally cool. Bravo Ricardinho
