@@itsyaaaboiii9245 me confused or you confused? This fish either was injured young or it's spinal cord growth was impacted some other way. You can see the kink/curvature in its spine.
Awesome day on the water. Congratulations on your 5th place finish. Have you considered using a fish gripper and lanyard vs holding them in the net? I was worried every time you did it especially with your biggest. LOL
Thanks!...It's funny you mention that because I'm usually worried my net is going to pop out from under my leg because of how short the handle is. I'll look into the grippers some more for the extra security! Thanks for stopping by.
Tiny rattletraps are fun little baits. That lake can be pretty tough but if you catch it at the right time you can catch panfish by the hundreds and even get on some healthy bass.
What’s the largest bass you caught there? I’m getting gear together for a summer of fishing there. I know there a ton of 40+pound catfish and carp but was never sure about the bass.
19.25" long.....so pushing 3.5 to 4lbs.... everything Ive caught in that lake is healthy and they sure seem to eat well. Those are some pretty good numbers on catfish size and can't imagine hooking one in the yak!
Thank you. There is a very good population of crappie and some big ones too. Most of the people I talked to that day were fishing for them but they were being picky.
Squirrels eat everything- they are of the rat family. They are not vegetarian- they will eat small mammals( or dead ones) and even birds! I saw a video of them doing this online!
I've had a lot of success early in the year with lipless crankbaits, swim baits and shakey heads when fishing from the bank....in late May and June when the smallmouth have moved in I like a bright pink or clown colored jerkbait and dropshot with goby style lures. I try to find bank access where you can cast to slightly deeper water. The platform out by the old lighthouse on Thompson Bay is a spot that comes that comes to mind for smallies
i was standing right about where you are on april 7th when i found out that someone i love died in a fourwheeler accident. Don’t mean anything to you but, brings back sad memories .
Sorry to hear about your loss. I have both good memories and some tough ones from this general area. I hope you take the chance to make some more memories there, it's a beautiful place to get out and just let go.
This is a nice change of pace from what I typically do and it is a great way to put a lot of fish in the boat. I've had success in cooler water and the warmer 80 deg water doing this. Still need to give it a go when the water is below 50. Thanks for watching.
