I can't thank you enough for this very specific video. It is exactly what we want to do, but I was hesitant about renting a car because of what the roads might look like. but you made the decision a no brainer. will definitely do it. thanks so much again this video is amazing and invaluable!
Hello are you still using this Hub? I have the same issue as you had with the disconnections. Is your trick really solves the problem or was it just temporary helpful? Thanks in advance
I'll be honest, I found Granville Island to be extremely overrated (same as is Darling Harbour in Sydney). I much preferred the grittiness of English Bay Beach. Vancouver surprised me at just how tiny it is, but it has a lovely setting on the bay.
I just bought the excursion 4 and want to put a floor on. Due to storage and portability I will need to have 3 sections like yours. But I don't think I will have enough room in the car if I were to put rails on like you did. They look great, and I wish I could, but I wouldn't be able to fit them will all my other gear. Do you think this would be sturdy enough without the rails. Maybe using 1/2" ply wood? I also thought about using the foam pipe covering all all edges of each section and not just around the perimeter. Do you think that might help with stability if I don't use rails? thank you in advance for your advice and wisdom!
I am glad to hear that you are working on a similar floor plan with three sections. Without the rails, I am afraid the three pieces of floor sections would not be sturdy enough, especially while you step on the edge, unless the floor is a whole piece. I understand that you would have 3 sections for easy storage. Here is my 2 cents idea, without the rails while still achieving the needed stability, by installing some type of hinges or fasteners between any two sections. Hope this helps. Good luck!
hey i did a project like this couple of years ago. what i ended up doing is I used 3/4 inch plywood cut in two pieces. to make it feel like one piece you will need stringers on the edges connecting the two pieces of plywood. I bought 1" round aluminum stock 12" long and cut square groove 3/4 " in it. I also added H-profile 3/4" to seamlessly join two pieces. It works fantastic for me. I never had time to make a video of it but I hope you got the idea. If i have to do it once more I would probably go with 1/2" plywood and added three 1x3" ribs to the floor because 3/4 plywood is a bit heavy.
Following on from my previous comment on your part 3 video, do you position the IE5 on your dolly/cart first so that the stern is raised before attaching the motor etc?
@@theeggheadlabs we used a 110 Ah battery with an 40 lbs motor on an inflatable 3 person kayac. it is faster then the boat and lasts for about 4 hours at 3 and 4 th speed.
Hi, I like the idea how you positioned the stern on a workbench to make it easier. How do you attach motor mount and motor etc before entering the water? Do you take the workbench with you?
Hello, nice job about your intex boat, I also did modifications of boat excursion 5. I also made hard floor but my design is different. I used long wooden boards and to them I screwed another boards positioned sideways. I also used soft pipe isolation for the edges of the floor and I put cloth only underneath. I also put custom motor mount screwed to the hard floor and tested 25hp old outboard on my excursion 5. I have a video on my profile everyone can see.
The longest internal length at the middle is about 100 inches. the length near the side reduces to 91 inches. See the detailed measurements in the video at about 30".
Hmm for me as a Asian mountains in europe without snow not my season. I prefer to see the Alps atleast with dusty of snow..without the snow the alps doesn't look that great.
I'm using a NVME M.2 SSD with this HUB as a storage for my Final Cut Pro video library. This HUB frequently randomly disconnects the SSD and will not even read that it's connected, not even in disc utility. So my library disconnects from final cut and all editing progress is loss. I then have to unplug and reconnect the HUB to get the Mac to read the NVME drive again. Any ideas on what this could be?!
For my external USB C disk, I am using Jettison by St. Claire Software. It ejects the disk when I put the Mac in sleep or shut down, and remounts when I reboot. Works great and is cheap.
The only speedtest, that is "okay" ist the microSD. There is no need to use a NVME instead of Sata-SSD if you reach less then 600 MB/s. Thx for the video.
Cool build and thanks for making the video. You could probably avoid the railings poking into the bottom when you stand on the inner edge of the aft and stern pieces by adding intersecting railings to the bottom of the center piece I think.
