I'm half French and my grandad was Canadian. Our ancestors stayed in Canada and fought the British (my other half). My family moved from Nova Scotia to Quebec. Not one of them moved to Louisiana.....so there. LOL
I grew up in Austin from 1943 when I was 1 yr. old to when I first left Austin to join the Navy after High School in. 1960. After my time in the Navy I came back to Austin to attend the U of Texas. I have watched Austin grow from that sleepy, city dominated by State Govt and UT, to the very huge City of today. I am now retired and we live in my wifes homeland of the Philippines. I am now 81 and plan on staying here for the rest of my life. I still love Austin and have great memories of my life there. I do enjoy the jungles and the climates of the tropics. New adventures in my old life here.

Where i live they dug a hole that was right next to the river. It took a huge vac truck to suck the crap out of the ground and it was very much getting into the river as well. They didn't care. Watched a guy empty his shit tank the other day right off the side of the road and into the river.
