Excellent video, so much depth, insight and valuable pointers of a leader. Its a balanced equation. What you give is what you get. How do you feel when you go to your job? Make it enjoyable is what I would say, do your duties to the best if you abilities and when you feel in your bones its time for change take action and make that change. Be the change you want to see.

Wow! I wish I had come across this since I became a leader. I find myself often times a boss vs a leader. This is an eye opener. I heard some of what you shared but hearing it in one coherent thought puts everything I hear in the past to a better perspective. I am going away inspired by this. ❤️🤗

So if companies are just like family and in the family we can’t fire our kids , when will we ever fire someone in the company ? Never ? A person is stealing money from work , will I use unconditional love and keep that person there ? Love what you’re saying Simon and am confused now about when will we ever fire someone in business
@KevinWong_BRZ
@KevinWong_BRZ 3 года назад
He didn't say you should never fire someone. If they break the basic bonds of trust, its definitely fire-able. But if they are struggling to do their job, we should aid and assist. That's the trust between employer and employee Simon is talking about having.

All very good except 99% of humans are sheep anyway so getting people to follow you isn't hard. Being a good leader IS hard though. Man don't know anything

Great and inspiring speech! The only thing I am Kind of struggling with is the fact that especially companies having a Long history and are now facing new challenges e.g. due to digitalization might need new expert competencies - what to do in those times? How can a "Family" afford to hire experts (adopt new children) and at the same time to Keep all other employees because your Family does not let you down? I really like the Picture of a "Family" and totally agree to "people first" and what was said - but I have concerns that giving up a certain flexibility in work force can lead to a sustainable success of a Company. Has anybody other experiences?

I wanna share this to our group chat for work so bad but oh boy am I gonna get so much backlash. I believe in everything you said, especially when it comes to putting people before profit. I see my coworkers stress so much to meet numbers that they disregard serving guests with time and care. I have gotten in trouble for "not pushing the lines" when taking orders because I'm making sure that the people I'm serving aren't feeling rushed and are instead being served as though they are the only people I've met that day. And its discouraging because I love to help people. But many see their job as a nine to five with numbers goals to reach. And most of the time it feels like I'm the only one that cares about what serving others really means.

I had the opportunity to be part of a safety culture change where we concentrated efforts around building trust in the work force at my facility. After 3 years of hard work that involved every employee first aids and recordables were the lowest it had ever been in the 55 years the facility had been open. We were rocognized at the corporate level for our accomplishments. Then a massive wave of accountibility was rolled out that consisted of long term employees being fired for minor events versus counseling on behavior change. It has destroyed what I helped build and it issuch a disapponitment to arrive at work these days. I wish I could convince managers to listen to you the first 10 minutes of every day...Thank you

The facility understood what it was doing, but the higher-ups did not. So sad to hear brotha, but I hope youre trying to move up the chain of command in order to have more long-lasting holistic change in the company
