Every marriage is unique, and the ultimate driver of this sacred union is God. Just like a product with various models, shapes, and sizes, each marriage operates differently, and only the Creator knows its full design and purpose. This is why no two marriages are exactly the same-our God is unique like that. You can’t ignore the Manufacturer and expect the product to function perfectly. Think about it: even unbelievers may follow the general principles of marriage and see some results. Yet, without the presence of the Manufacturer-God-there will always be something missing. As believers, we have a distinct advantage. Not only do we have God’s Word, but we also have His voice, guiding us at every step. Isaiah 30:21 reminds us that God directs us in the way we should go, and this is especially crucial in marriage. Marriage is sustained by far more than just love. It requires wisdom, knowledge, and understanding (Proverbs 24:3-4), which only God can provide (James 1:5). While unbelievers often rely on trial and error, sometimes viewing divorce as an easy solution, we know that there’s more at stake. For a marriage to thrive, it takes reverence for God, aligned values, teachability, kindness, and a deep respect for family. The Holy Spirit, the author of genuine love (Romans 5:5), is essential for any marriage to flourish. He helps us submit, love, and serve as we should (John 14:16). These are the ingredients that hold marriages together.
