@@troymoszer lol that was a mistake on my part during editing… I’m not a pro RU-vidr yet and when you’re editing 100+ clips into one video, mistakes happen. Sorry for the confusion!!
Dude u are nit picking that bike. Shit get it running and ride the damn thing bro. I mean u got a steal for 1200 bucks. U pretty much stole it from the lady.
@@ClaytonTownley I’ve got the frame powder coated and sitting in my shop right now! I’m restoring this one, the 86 was a monster of a bike. I’ve seen them go upward if $12k restored but that’s some high level stuff
A friend owned one, rode it a few times, terrifying, short shifted just to keep the front end down. As I recall, starting followed a strict drill with MX boots on.
@@foxlake6750 that’s correct, there’s a proper sequence to get it to start easier. I put a decomp button on my last one. Helps kick when it’s hot and you’re stuck on a hill or something
@@Workerbee-zy5nx CR500s all came with iron sleeved cylinders from the factory 😉 I’m not sure yet! I’m not probably just going to sit on it for a bit. I’m knee deep in an 86 cr500 resto right now! Look forward to a video on that one soon!!
@@jimmy_dirtbike Y'all welcome. I owned and raced a really nice 84 500r, and it was a hoot. Ran it on VP racing gas mixed with my all time favorite oil Maxima 927 and it smelled sweet as honey. You can get awesome air time on those big bores jumping double jumps. 🤠👍🏴🇺🇸
@@jakeslouw3416 this isn’t the worst bike I’ve ever revived. I did a 78 DT400 that sat since 1988 at my grandpa’s wrecking yard for 30 years before I started my channel!
Since this video says 4 day's ago there's a Honda 4 wheeler there. Is it a 1986 or 1987 Honda trx sx 200 four stroke?? If it is I would be interested in it if it's for sell. I had one I bought brand new for 2000 dollar's at Boca Raton Honda. I loved that bike and that's the only reason I'm interested. If you want to sell let me know thanks. I also had an 87 trx 125 I bought for my wife. She got tired of riding on the back of mine. A lot of great memories of us with the kids.😊
@@rapidtransit8373 I’m looking on marketplace, it appears the closest one to me for sale is in Vancouver WA which is about a 10 hour drive from my house lol but there’s 2 there! I hope you find your quad! I still have a trx250 from when I was a little kid!
@@michaelhinkle6648 sorry for the confusion! The placement for that clip was incorrect.. I noticed this after upload. I’m not a pro at editing RU-vid videos yet, it got lost in the shuffle. Please forgive me!!
@@yamaharaptor01able 1993 is a great year… I love the graphics! I’m really on the fence about it. I’ve got a 91 that’s 99% done and an 86 cr500 I’m rolling full steam on now that I got the frame back from powder coating. I’d love a 2001 next!!
In Australia, a good CR 500 can cost anywhere between 10 and 15 thousand 😮 It's crazy the price of big bore two strokes. You definitely got a bargain there bro.
Damn, I sold a 99 KX500 this year and it was in very very good condition, not one issue. 5,000 usd. Sounds like you guys need some 500’s down under, had I known I would’ve shipped for shipping and base price.
@@XRakkgruntX there's guy's in Aus, that import container loads of two strokes from the US. I've got a yellow YZ 490, from California. We just didn't have the population when these bikes were around.
@@goofball3236 thank you so much bro! I love being a dad so far! Can’t wait till I got a Little helper in my shop… I might already have a pw50 in storage for her 😅 I rebuilt that one last year before I really started doing RU-vid. Maybe I’ll do one of those some time. I’m trying to get a 92 rmx from a local guy, but he wants way too much and the case is cracked. When you make it over to my neck of the woods, hit me up via IG and we can ride!!
@@gordonwrichert8240 let’s hope so! However, getting an FMF powercore2 might give it more power! I have an old answer pipe from the early 90s I might use too and just sell this one!
@@gordonwrichert8240 I’ve used VMX repop tanks with luck in the past with a cr125 and cr250! Might go that route, but eBay is always an option I suppose!!
I was born in NY State but spent a great part of my early childhood life in Alabama in the 1980s... We were a black family surrounded by white families in Alabama... I remember my neighbors and their four wheelers and dirtbikes... I even remember the notorious 3 wheelers... my white child hood friends would offer to LET ME RIDE... but my mom always said NO! I remember seeing my lil white friends work on bikes with their dads as I watched from the other side of the fence... seeing them work, then try to kick start a bike... then when the bike finally came to life... the scream of the bike, I remember just smiling... I wanted to ride but Mommy said NO!... I grew up and moved back to new york... I bought multiple bikes... I miss the 1980s. RIP Mommy.
@@deezle1460 RIP to your mom as well as mine! My mom was very similar to yours, wasn’t having any scary dirt bikes at our house! Had to sneak off to a friends place and ride his!
@@David-u5f3v I knew that question was coming after I uploaded lol I put that clip in the wrong sequence of events. It happens.. editing takes a long time when you’ve got over a 100 clips to dissect. As you can see, I’m not a pro RU-vidr yet! 😅 anyway, thanks for watching my videos anyway
@@jimmy_dirtbike I came to that conclusion while watching you take off the head and I didnt see any other way for you to take the compression. Your welcome,
@@David-u5f3v I found out after I shut the bike and camera off, that coolant was weeping from the head gasket… hence why the coolant was extremely low. Haven’t checked, but head could be warped from overheating. Little tidbit of info I thought I’d share since you clearly appreciate wrenching on 500s! 😎
