The ancient ancestors would be proud of this re creation long ship build and I suspect Odin Thor Frey freyja would be too , hail the gods , it just goes to show the hard work and skill needed to create a large fleet of these ships to sail to new lands , and for one to go down in a storm must of been heartbreaking for the builders when you see the work carried out to build just one .
I've read accounts of masts being lowered when the longships went inland because of trees hanging over some portions of river. How the hell would they do that with such a ship as the Dragon Harald?
As a once wooden boat owner I am fascinated by the worlds different ethnic peoples on how they crafted their ships so many years ago and even today. Many similarities between various ethnic groups. Amazing engineering and skill that is necessary to build these magnificent ships! I'm honored to see this!

Is it based on a original ship ? Like the Seastallion Of Glendalough (Roskilde, Skuldelev 2). Just asking, because the danish ship, similar in size is based on one of those they found in Roskilde Fjord.
Cue “The Immigrant Song” by Led Zeppelin. Should mount a load speaker system below decks to be fully accurate. “Ah-ah-Ah! We come from the land of the ice and snow…”
