Redefining what an orchestra can be, the LA Phil is as vibrant as Los Angeles, one of the world's most open and dynamic cities. Led by Music & Artistic Director Gustavo Dudamel, this internationally renowned orchestra harnesses the transformative power of live music to build community, foster intellectual and artistic growth, and nurture the creative spirit.
Surprised that John Williams’s “Soundings” was neither played nor mentioned here despite it being commissioned for and performed at the grand opening of the hall in 2003.
Omg this is my favorite symphony, especially the finale!!! ❤❤ I've listened to this so much it's practically memorized lol. And Dudamel is no doubt the best conductor ever!
Matt Groening said he played Danny Elfman a mix tape with a bunch of completely random stuff that included several cues from film scores, composers like Nino Rota, the Jetsons Theme, some lounge music, a Gillette jingle by Frank Zappa, and all kinds of other random pieces of music and I think even random sounds, and Danny Elfman listened to it once and was like “I know exactly what you’re looking for.” And he came back the next day with a demo of the Simpsons theme that was already pretty much fully formed.
