Late but whatever... those people were relocated there and were falsely promised homes and game, along with a promise that they could return within a year prior or relocating. However, the promise of returning was broken and they were forced to stay. Even when these conflicts were solved, many people were well settled there and stayed, thus forming Resolute and many other Inuit communities scattered across these lands.
I can't believe that people actually live up there...and in Grise Fiord as well. There are no other towns for hundreds of miles. What do they do with themselves after awhile?
They have a hotel up there? I'm afraid to ask how much the accommodation would be! You know, the isolation is beautiful out there, problem is as a vegetarian it wouldn't be in the cards for me.

I climbed to the top of the hill / mountain in the back of town back in 2009. I was up there for work from Edmonton and bored out of my mind. The view from the top was amazing. First and only time in my life I've seen the curvature of the earth. Pristine.
I looked up www.timeanddate.com and it listed a free calendar. I poked around their site and checked out their international weather site. Never heard of Resolute Bay so I checked it out on Wikipedia and decided to see what was on You Tube since I have a channel down here in Salem Oregon. Last Saturday morning it got down to 8deg. F. and broke the record, my sister in law lives in Ulm Montana near Great Falls, been kinda of chilly since the August snowfall in South Dakota. My 1,200+ videos at RU-vid channel Floraspec. If you miss seeing fire engines we have lots on the channel.
