My god, how absurd the amount of details and examples used, even in color, was practically designed for anyone with no knowledge to understand... this is absurd, I'm watching this video 3 years later, but this content is absurd, velocity of the explanation, the demonstrations, thank you for that, technical data, frequency demonstration, comparisons.... honestly, speechless for the free knowledge of sound design

I just applied these principles to my kick and bass. This is collection of many subtle differences but the output is immensely improved. The sounds come out so much close to professional already. I can just keep these foundations and let my creativity free without worrying about what is right or wrong. All the principles you told fit perfectly well within my logic and understanding of wave structure so I'm very happy to find your information. Thank you, for sharing your expertise and experience. :)

It's a good tutorial but this tonality Thing is a total bullshit 😂
@mentalbroadcastofficial
@mentalbroadcastofficial Год назад
@@SounDirectiveSamples just to simplify, so if the key is A# or B this means the kick wouldn't reach 40htz, is this elaborate enough?
@SounDirectiveSamples
@SounDirectiveSamples Год назад
@@mentalbroadcastofficial As we both already know Rome matching the tonality of the kick to the one of the bass is not a necessity. Nor it is presented as one in the video. The tonality match in the video is primarily to demonstrate the phase alignment vs phase cancellation rather than demonstrating the "right" vs "wrong" way to do it..To properly explain what happens when the kick is not in the same tonality and how to deal with phase misalignment i would have to extend the video into kick n bass mixing which would take another 2 hours...i believe you would agree to that
@mentalbroadcastofficial
@mentalbroadcastofficial Год назад
@@SounDirectiveSamples is a great video super weldone covering all aspects in a really good way, don't take me wrong, I love the vid, but tonality in fractions of a sec makes no sense, but for alignment is great and necessary, I just want to clarify this.

Your explanation about the 60000 is a bit off.. It cannot be a unit of ms/min... The unit of the 60000 is ms! its 60 seconds × 1000 milliseconds/second = 60,000 milliseconds ;)
@SounDirectiveSamples
@SounDirectiveSamples Год назад
Yes I agree but that's also what I am.saying...can you please refer to which part of the video what I am saying is different from what you are saying?.. Where is the explanation a bit off?
@SounDirectiveSamples
@SounDirectiveSamples Год назад
First I am explaining what the 60000 number actually is...60000 ms/ min ....just stating a fact...there is no kick related calculation here..when dividing with the BPM of the track I clearly state that this is the total ms of a whole beat.....please check once again the video and if you insist that I am wrong somewhere please drop me a quote or a time stamp to where my statement is wrong verbally or in the graphics of th video compared to yours and I will publicly apologize for the mistake...
@psy237
@psy237 Год назад
@@SounDirectiveSamples it's not 60000ms/min. it is 60000ms ;) no big deal and sorry for being a smart ass! ;) i just realized I have to dial it down after dealing with politics for too long :'D
@SounDirectiveSamples
@SounDirectiveSamples Год назад
@@psy237 no worries at all.....I take no offence from any type of objections or observations from people.who have something to add constructively to the information of the video...but in this particular case I thought the comment was a bit unfair...:) ,Even if I stopped the sentence at "ms" and didn't add "per minute",that does not mean the calculation is "off" nor it produces a different meaning or result that could be considered missleading to others.If from the whole video of 30 min you narrowed all your objections to the inclusion of 2 potentially unnecessary words in your opinion and took the time to write a complete ,technically pristine ,step by step process to rephrase it better, then I truly feel honoured and take it as a compliment that the rest of the 30 min long video was perceived as "correct"....in any case thank you for your participation and observations for it...I know you are not trying to be a "smart guy" with bad intent.....and it's good to know that there is also knowledgeable viewers with high standard requirements from creators viewing my material...

Plenty of great tips, but the one set at 8:40 mins, one of the best for Kick 2 users... Setup the ending time with a "pre-last" node is a game changer. Obvious and perfect. Like many BEST ideas in this world. TIP: Even if perfectly aligned, bass and kick may cause a tiny problem - gain. It's a good idea to pay attention to that when trying to get -6 LUFS or louder mix-down levels or avoiding fragmented pumpings.
@SounDirectiveSamples
@SounDirectiveSamples Год назад
Thnx for the kind words !..as far as your tip...yea offcourse there will be quite a volume bump when kick n bass come into phase allignment...I didn't get into that further cause it would turn the video into a kick n bass mixing video rather than a kick one..

This is a great idea, Finding, layering and processing snares is such a rabbit hole, I've used Kick to replace the body (low end) of snares and some noise and general layering, I don't buy preset packs (Apart from Mute productions, For reverse engineering 😉) but I don't have time to make all the different layers needed for this process so I guess you will be getting some of my hard earned cash... 👍

If we need to tune the end of the kick to match the bass that it feeds into then what if we want a variety in our bass where the bass note changed, would we need to do a separate kick that feeds into that which is the same kick but ends on a different bass note?

Hello, I really benefited a lot from watching your video. I want to ask you a question.Every time I add a plug-in, the waveform in the oscilloscope will move a little later. Will this cause any trouble? Is there any solution?
@SounDirectiveSamples
@SounDirectiveSamples 2 года назад
Hi there and apologies for my late reply ! Thank you so much for the comment !The change in the oscilloscope happens due to the latency each plugin ads to the waveform...depending on the plugin this sometimes can be quite a lot...I would suggest you export your bass in to audio once you are happy with it so you can manually chop off any pre delays or added artifact before the first transient of the bass...You can then move it back into its position in audio form ,free from plugins , and proceed to the phase alignment with the kick

great tut👍 btw.. 21:30 (technique 5) shouldn't i reverse the polarity of the right mono channel (M-S technique) ?
@SounDirectiveSamples
@SounDirectiveSamples 2 года назад
Hi there and thank you for your comment!...technique 5 simply demonstrates the creation of a stereo signal based on different volumes between left channel and right channel.....the 2 channels are mono left and mono right...when they play at the same volume they produce the same result as a dual mono track...by changing either the pan or the volume we create a "difference = stereo*....keep in mind that we are not isolating the difference...we hear it together with all the mono information.....if you switch the polarity of any of the 2 channels you will loose the mono information which is the core of the baseline....
