Your description of "joe" is entirely speculation. Nothing in the film says "joe" was a outlaw or his motivation for his involvement in the events was to atone for his past. Terrible idea
So you did a great job with the review! I told some of the scenes with my dad what happens in this movie and he thought it sounded kind of creepy! I saw this movie as well! Going into this blindly having knowing nothing about this movie! I was thinking of this idea for an episode where the main character’s dog gets stolen by two cult leaders who are naked and the cults supports a tree! Also I wanna name the episode “the house of the cult” You can guess what’s that’s a reference to! Also after the main character kills the man cult leader the woman cult leader eats his heart and turns into a creepy angel to kill our main character!
I thought it was pretty weird that a movie about a bunch of weather scientists never mentioned climate change as a possible reason for the uptick in tornadoes. It just felt off and unrealistic.
The director specifically intended this because they realized people are turned off by messaging in movies and wanted it to be a fun action packed disaster movie. I don't think it is propaganda, that would imply they have an overt message one way or the other. The movie leaves the viewer to make up whatever reasoning they want; likely based on their pre-conceived notions coming into the movie. But it leaves them the freedom to do so instead of making the decision for the viewer. I think that's what made the movie so good.
This is delusional. Good lord some of you really need to just relax and learn to enjoy a movie without constantly beating an activist drum. Give it a rest.
gonna take my parents to go see it saturday, then ill be back to critique this video. trying to avoid spoilers. dude seems disturbed or has mild ADHD/Autism that makes him dwell on certain concepts, should be fun to pick him and his fake philosophic stuff apart :) next he'll tell me aliens: romulus is socialist propaganda or something and how the aliens affect the lunar cycles or something
You trying to analysis this movie as not complex enough is weird. The movie was great, no messaging your just way over thinking it. There are lots of movies that don't need a why and are great, you trying to inject what you think they should do is just weird. The movie was great, character arc for main character was great, the story was great and simple. Action, emotional, comedy, romance, great effects, fast pace, great acting. Not even sure if you watch a movie to be entertained or looking to critic it for some message you thought they were suppose to supply. Which even if they did what you suggest it would come off stupid, if you believe climate change exist or not, or if we have an actual effect or not, or how you would solve that problem through some movie plot gives it a lot more reasons for people to hate it. Let yourself get caught up in the movie, I don't get emotional ever during movies but when she broke down it's like you could feel it. When she was ready to sacrifice herself to save people I really did not know what the outcome would be. With all the junk they put out in theaters now this movie was great, I did have low expectations just because the fact there is so much crap Hollywood puts out, it's actually nice to watch something simple and entertaining it actually reminded me of Top Gun Maverick just entertaining don't have to know why and how for everything.
Or, wild concept, people simply don't care about the politics or reasoning and just want to watch a fun movie that doesn't try to force things down their throats. A movie preaching too far in either direction is annoying when movies are supposed to be an escape from reality for most people, not a commentary on it.
Thank you for stating this. It was really refreshing to see a film where some kind of message was not forced into the narrative. Look at The Hurricane Heist. That was already not a great film and it should have been baseline entertaining at best, but they hamfisted a climate change speech into the script that tripped it up like barbed wire. I am so thankful Lee Isaac Chung chose to avoid the mess and focus on making an entertaining film.
@WeirdMachinations you need to go to a therapist, legitimately. Your blatant obsession with this topic is toxic. You're acting like a religious fanatic having his beliefs challenged.
By avoiding any mention of the root cause of more and stronger storms, anthropogenic climate change, I expect the filmmakers were trying to sidestep accusations of being “woke” (whatever that is) and thus being dismissed by the right-leaning (potentially ticket-buying) segment of their audience. A tragic loss of nerve.
Good insight, I agree that it’s the filmmaker’s timidity that makes this propaganda because the bottom line needs to come first. A good example of capitalist realism.
Oh please. Lee Isaac Chung stated directly that he does not believe that movies are supposed to preach. He is absolutely correct. He has earned himself a new fan and I look forward to whatever he does next because he proved he can handle the big summer blockbuster like a champ.
So, the movie was written by a liberal because it contains corporation bashing but it was made by a conservative because it ignores climate change? You really are reaching with this one.
