I can remember a stoke player belting the ball at an open vale goal only for it to get stuck in the mud just inches from the goal line at vale park.. can't remember the stoke platers name... Might have been George berry
I remember Stoke signing him. There wasn't a Stoke supporter who was impressed. Lots even thought we'd signed another misfit striker. But yet he proved everyone wrong. A damn good player for Stoke to be honest
One of the best midfielders I've ever seen at Stoke, gutted he was injured alot but Pulis shouldn't have let him go to Watford! He'd have done well in the prem with stoke. At also wanted to come back to celebrate with them when they got promotion. Says it all, class bloke.
I was the assistant groundsman at the Vic and I was lucky enough to get the shirt that Kav wore in the last match. It was going to be thrown out because the collar was ripped off by fans at the end who were trying to grab it. Great memories at the Vic and the atmosphere that day was fantastic. I wish I could turn back time to those days.
Stan was a fantastic Stoke City and England player. Also, after he retired he would walk amongst Stoke supporters during our games to talk to many of them. A fantastic footballer and a fantastic bloke.
I was the assistant groundsman at Stoke back then, you actually see me at half time, I'm the one on the left. I was always sent towards the away end to put the divots back and I remember taking some proper abuse off the Fail fans. It was well worth it though 😂 What a game and what a great atmosphere in the Vic. How cool did Delilah sound 🥳Special memories of that ground it was a proper intimidating place for the away team with the fans so close to the pitch. It was a real privilege to work there during the Macari era and he was, apart from being a great manager also a top bloke. Up The Mighty Potters! ✌️😎
he became my hero with the winner for man u against Liverpool in the 1979 semi final i was right behind the goal at goodison my spine still tingles when i think of that goal
Sad to see this and hear that roar. Vale park only has a safety for 11,000 at the moment. Huge gaps even on a sell out. Shame as the Vale faithful deserve better
