Hi. It's been some time since I looked at all of this. I think the floppy has connections to both CIA chips and also looks like it connects to the Gayle chip which appears to deal with some of the floppy logic according to the A600 schematic. I don't think there are other chips it goes to first as such, it just connects directly to multiple chips. Also, check the resistors/capacitors that sit between the socket and the chips, they can burn up. There are also some on the underside of the board. If it has been shorted there is a chance one or more of these has burnt out, in which case no signal will be able to get through anymore. You can test these with a meter on continuity. If you look at other videos in my A600 series you will see I have some burnt up ones from the serial port on mine. Take a look at "amigapcb dott com" there is an interactive PCB and you can use it to see where each connection goes. Hope you can fix it 🙂
Thank you very much for Video , we had ours years but I don't think we ever calibrated them, I weigh in Stones and my Daughter's weighs in Kg so always picking up to change but never calibrated afterwards could not understand why the readings fluctuated you have been most helpful.
Any idea what colour the speaker wires are in the socket, im fitting a new aftermarket stereo next week the original stereo is in now but only 1 speaker works
I have no idea off hand. Been a while since this was out. But you could try searching for vauxhall cd30 pinout as that should indicate the pinout on the original stereo, then trace through from there maybe? The plug will be mirrored to the socket though. Just don't connect the 12V to your speakers 🙂
could anyone tell me what the resistor on the u12, cxa1145m chip is for i keep seeing people that have this done but can never work out why I'm a bit of a newbie lool
Hi. Sorry but I'm not sure to be honest. I know there are cables available to give you an aux in but it's not something I've looked into enough to know which model units it works with, or how to even access the aux input.
I don't like the idea of tearing apart server just to fill it with consumer components and use it as a file SERVER.... This thing with a proper RAID controller and dual NICs is a perfect setup for running NAS or pfSense (or both), and probably is a overkill, but with all the extras, its perfect for what You want from a file server. That raid controller supports SATA hotswapping , so if a disk fails, just plug another one while the thing is running and problem solved. That third NIC is a management port, basically like having a person sitting next to it and pushing a buttons for you, or doing a bios setup in front of the machine. You just plug 3 Ethernet cables, and get 3 IP addresses, two are for Networking, the third is a managment port for web interface, basically a web based remote desktop, so you can remotely turn it on-off, get into bios or do what ever you want remotely. That thing is a separate device that is always on, as long as the power is plugged into wall. And Yes, those are ECC RAM sticks, you can see by the count of memory chips on each stick (it has nine), non ecc sticks have even number, not odd, and those ECC modules can save you from system chrashes. Also those redudant power suplies, if plugged into different wall sockets can save you when the wife turns the owen, dishwasher, dryer and vacuum cleaner all at the same time, at least one of the supplies will still run if on different circuit breakers :)
My radio is stuck, so it wont get out and it’s constantly on ‘Extern In’. No buttons work accept the settings and bc. It won’t turn of even when the key is out and car locked. I got a headache from this 😭
That's not good, sounds like something has really gone wrong with it. I'm not 100% sure but I would think the radio would have its own fuse in the fuse box, so you could at least pull that so it doesn't kill your battery until you can get it out and disconnect it.
This really helps me a lot, for someone that know's very little about cars. I recently bought an Astra H (2006) and it's my second car. Planning to change and renew everything in the console. This video and explanation will help me a whole lot! The most useful and detailed video out on RU-vid, in a language I understand hahah. Saved it in my favs 👌 Keep up the good work! My next project will be to install new speakers. Do you have a video of that by any chance? Or can you advice me a good tutorial here on YT? Thanks again!
Just changed mine your tutorial was brilliant. I bought a zafira radio n display for a fiver on marketplace. Swapped mine no problems.Job done thanks a million. Just to note my old dosplay had two buttons for adjusting time etc new one no buttons time etc is set i presume from radio. Top tip put some clothes below where screws might drop when your screwing back in had the fatal drop down into below cigarette lighter gap....Thx once again
The Enter key on my A500 keyboard has two of those wires underneath - at right angles to eachother. A real pain to reassemble. If you have the same, replace this key first.
I just did some work on a A500 floppy dtive today. The eject wasnt working. Compared to an Atari ST I found the drive hard to work on. The hardest part was actually screwing the drive back in. The three base screws did not want to line up.
Do you know of any digital bathroom scales that don't lock? I hate this smart locking feature it doesn't give you time to stand on them correctly. Thanks Aidan
Bit late but you need better than a consumer grade scale. Seca 876 or 877 depending on if you need stones. Just constantly reads the weight applied and no fake locking.
@@VintageLynx Thank you very much for this, only I wish I could afford to sepnd that much. I got some salter ones for £12 and as long as I measure myself 3x I can get an average of how much I weigh so they are doing the job.
hello, I have a 'display safe' problem. my car didn't have a factory radio, I bought a used cd30 at the dump, but the display has no function, it just says display safe. how can this be solved?
You should have waited to initailize the unit before turning on. It takes 1-2mins. It makes too much sound f u turn it on instantantly. Wait for the heartbeat led to slow down. I can feel your agony😂.
Thanks for making both these videos in detail. I followed your first weeks ago to tear down & retr0bright my key caps - which were very yellow! I couldn't remember much, so great to have a nice detailed reassembly video too with some great tips. You probably saved me some damage to the keys with the metal bars!
Hi, thankyou for the reply ,I have the 5 door astra mk 5 2007 model.I will be shortly changing all the worn and tired looking cloth interior to leather interior from a astra elite 5 door the seats I bought second hand and took them to the leather upholstery shop in bristol where I live .I believe these leather seats are heated so the facia I spoke to you about earlier with the heated seat buttons should work out fine and should be compatible I hope its just a case of plug and play . Its like the front bumper if you don't have fog lights the wiring for them is already connected to the loom so thats just plug and play hope my seats will be the same I will keep you informed
Oh, sounds like a bit of a project you have going there 🙂Mines a 2005, just wanting to keep it running as long as I can. Although last year it did finally give me a bunch of costs and work to do, but overall it's not been a bad car. You might be in luck then with the seats if the wiring is in place. Maybe the worst case you'll need to fit some fuses and relays? I have read that it's often possible to fit cruise control after the fact too. Good luck with it 👍
Hi, yes I think your right relays and fuses need to be looked at to get the heated seats to work they light up on the facia though but the sports button doesn't light up.Didnt expect it too to be honest.my car was owned by a disabled man before who had all the work done on mot ability I had the clutch changed a couple of months ago to luk and 2 new bottom arms its only done 75,000 thats why I'm looking after it as its been very reliable I also have the full xp kit to go on and 17inch vauxhall penta wheels as well they have all been refurbished also got some astra gsi bonnet vents to go on but all of it needs to be sprayed the right colour the irmsher rear spoiler and side skirts .The leather will be going in soon .The car is a 1.6 petrol twinport metro blue so it should look really different when its done changed the steering wheel today to a astra vxr one and installed a pumkin radio as well so it all matches black the facia and above the glove box that peace of trim is real black carbon fibre as is the light switch surround thats real black carbon fibre its starting to come together now
Thankyou I did all the same as you with the facia surround I changed mine from dull grey to piano black the plug still fitted and I have 3 extra buttons now 2 for heated seats and sports button not sure if all of that will work as i had the exact same facia as you I haven't pressed those extra buttons as I don't want to blow any fuses have you any suggestions??
Hi. I have to be honest I don't know a definitive answer to your question. I doubt that it would blow anything though, more likely it will just not do anything at all. If the feature isn't present in the car then any signal to turn something on would likely be ignored as a lot of things in cars now has some degree of software control sitting between the buttons and the device being operated. Your best bet would be to check out some of the Vauxhall forums online or maybe even post a question there, a lot of knowledgeable people can be found there that may have an answer. If you find out I'd be interested to know out of curiosity :-)
@@bossmanboom212 I'm going to have to take it to auto electrician as I don't have a front fog light switch on the dash panel because I'm changing a front bumper without foglights to a irmsher front bumper with fog lights so the bottom line is need a switch to operate the fog lights have you any suggestions?
You've been an angel on my shoulder while I've been cleaning my Amiga 500...both keyboard and floppy drive. Put it all back and it still works! Thank you so much.
Fico a imaginar e desejar uma.maquina dessa com dois processadores e duas placas NVidia quadro rodando Revit, SketchUp+vray, lumion e Promob. Preciso urgente comprar uma mesmo sendo antiga.
Wow what a Nightmare. Sorry it gave you a hard time. Have you done anymore work on it? That Fan, the loudest Fan ever. Would that still be noisy even if the Backing to the PC was closed? Like you said, it sounds like a Vacuum Cleaner.
Nice work here. A really nice upgrade. I've not had much experience with fitting Stereos in Cars. Only once I've done it, but that was on my very first car I owned.
IBM sold their "Think" range to Lenovo. That's probably one of the systems that were in-handover sort of thing. Regarding alcohol, I think Jasper Carrot did a "Commercial Breakdown" video in which he was talking about Keiser Beer. I think it went something along the lines of, "What they're saying is that if you tip the bottle down the toilet, you'll save yourself half an hour."
