Well, I had most of my savings in Nationwide, and despite all their gobbing off about keeping local branches open the nearest to me is an hour and a half drive away. When eventuaĺy I had the opportunity to get there I got no help as the person there knew less about anything than I did as I had an on-line account. I think I'll keep my money in cash in an old shoe box under the bed from now on.
used to be when we die we are allowed £23,500 in savings to be passed on as an inheritance to any loved one ... while nothing has changed regarding legislation DWP and nursing homes are now happy to take the lot ... well of course they are when there is nothing to stop them and no way any family member is able to fight the system without legal aid

This maybe controversial, but I have no problem with paying some tax. My life was saved by the NHS some years ago and, whilst I am by no means wealthy, I can stand paying some tax on my savings. I know that the money won't go directly to the NHS which leads me to an idea I have about directing tax to where you want it to go. Fanciful, I know, and it would not happen but if everyone, including the mega-rich paid fair taxes, we may be in a better state than we are now.
You get taxed on your wage you get taxed on your savings you get taxed on the interest, for the small amount you get you might as well buy premium bonds hide it in plain sight, do not use the bank and you will pay no tax meanwhile William got the duchy of Cornwall worth a cool billion pounds and paid no inheritance tax no vat no income tax yet we keep him and his family in luxury why can’t they fund them selves and spend their own money, same as Charles we pay him half a billion a year, his mum left him £637. I used to do doors at goose green at the very venue this happened outside . The problem was mainly narcotics related and the type of people wanting in for buying or selling . We would have problems with travellers wanting in especially them that named dropped Tyson Fury like it mattered but they came across like thugs trying to bully their way in so the security got upped . The useless ones who done security there that couldn’t bounce people out when needed got moved on and we ended up with fighters there on the doorthat could deal with them if they started. O Prey was a grafter and off his nut but wanted his phone back, they go mad about phones because it’s got business on and lost count of the weird behaviour of people who are unfit for entry but insist on going in to get their phone . We had gangs coming down to graft as the altrincham crowd is known to have money to spend on gear . That’s the main problem and the rest is delaying wit it all …. Tougher sentencing on grafters is needed and anyone caught at night tooled up should get a mandatory 5 years . That’s the only way you’ll do something about it

Who are these pensioners on pension credit who can afford internet connection and I pad or laptop. Or are they all having it done for them at the local library...oh, sorry , that's been closed. Apparently if all the people who are entitled to pension credit actually claim it and then claim the means tested WFP and all the other benefits they are then entitled to claim, it will cost the government 4.5 Billion, but if they had left it as it was it would cost the government 1.5 Billion🤔🤔🤔

If that's the route you believe they should go down then they already have that information lodged with HMRC. I've just received a notification from them - I owe a couple of hundred £'s - and it shows all of my income streams :: different small pensions and state pension, and gross and net income. Simple to put in a cut off point and then ship the details of those who remain eligible for WFA across to DWP.
@@JohnRedman-h3s I thought it was even less 11318. New state pension is only 3.00 a week over so it's low to cut you off for help. People forget the percentage sounds good for triple lock but it's on a small amount so next year's won't be a lot. Plus tax allowance is too low so with a small pension extra you are thrown into tax. Dilutes the triple lock. Next year 460 less 20% tax= 360 Take off loss of 200 winter fuel =160 for a year increase. Worked out to keep us poor.
