@@TheAntiquatedOne I see you found the neoseeker thread. What a trip down the memory lane. What started as a speedrunning idea ended up being a passion project. I think my friend made a repo with our tools but it seems it's private. Cesar Vonc has rebuilt his site multiple times already, so his viewer is also lost in time. The grappling hook Mike Diskett likes to mention is still available in the game, but has no model and crashes it. IIRC you need to clip into (0,0) coords and press the use key. It's either (0,0) or one of the other corners of the map. Might need to enable cheat mode for it to work. I am really glad you managed to get the editor to work, we found it through ResEdit, but never bothered to do anything with it.
In the mission trouble in the park there are 2 wildcats hidden on the roof, impossible to reach without glitches. These are immobile but they will follow you if you target them with a weapon. The curious thing is that they will not attack you and one of them has a shotgun and this is unusual in the first missions of the game. also there is a secret wildcat enemy with a AK47 on the roof near where you find the one with the shotgun but this one only appears conditionally, I still haven't discovered the condition for it to appear

I've just confirmed your finding. A wildcat with a shotgun is standing still at (52,11,87). A wildcat with a AK47 is spawned at (47,8,80) but just like you said it's conditional. In order to spawn him player must enter "trap" area at (110, 0, 60), it's the spot where one rasta wildcat attacks the player behind the corner and another wildcat spawns behind the player. Use shift+f12 to see in game coordinates. Thanks for letting me know about that! :)

Another secret: In the game code there is some reason why random civilians sometimes have a gun. I discovered this when you shoot and they do the animation of aiming the gun and then they run

Someone on TVTropes said that there's a secret doorway outside the borders on one level, and if you approach it, it will shoot out chains that grab Darci, pull her in with a unique death animation, and then crash the game. Have you discovered this?

I dont know if it is a recurring thing, but when I used the Madworld, and if I happened to spawn as a MIB, I was immortal. Is it possible to put it as a default that you can shoot any NPC types? (for example cop cannot attack roper). Great mod BTW
First of all thanks for the feedback! I believe you weren't actually immortal, but health display is not properly adjusted to characters with base health greater than 400. MIB characters start with base 700 health, Roper with 400, Darci with 200 and certain civilians start with 130 ( that's why gauge is not filled when starting the mission with redhead, because game assumes your max can be either 200 or 400 ). If you took enough damage while playing as MIB you would eventually notice HP drop. Still I totally do agree this needed a fix so I've adjusted the gauge to display appropriate proportion of your current health to current character type max hp. I've removed most restrictions from certain characters being unable to hit each other for "madworld" command. v0.13 should be now available at moddb website.

Yes, but there's a small problem with that right now. Game has hardcoded to load his mesh only on stages Estate of Emergency and Breakout!. The Breakout! level isn't available in the final version of the game. So right now it's only possible to play as him on Estate of Emergency stage, but I should be able to include him in every stage with my next version.
Both my mod and HD upscale mod are separate .exe files so only one of them can work at the same time. However my mod contains an configurable option to play with HD resolution (1920x1080) but that has to be set in config.ini as video_res=5 (I provided the config.ini in the .zip with mod so it should be already set up).
Looks like I was wrong in my previous comment as it turns out the HD upscale mod does not have a separate exe as it's solely focuses on changing the textures in the server directory. If you could rename your current server directory in your game folder to something like serverUpscaleMod and drag the server from the zip I provided and let me know if it works that would be great. Also let me know which operating system are you using (so far I have tested this mod only on 64-bit windows 10).
@@TheAntiquatedOne It didnt unfortunately :(. I am alson running windows 10. What happens when I start the the exe is that the game starts with a black screen. (I can blindly select a mission and it starts etc.)
great run, and i learned a new trick thanks. i accidentally deleted my previous comment, so here we go again, i was showing 2 tricks that u probably know already. fence skip : jump and release movement right before u hit the fence (u come at a 10-15 degree angle) 2nd bullet skip : sprint, tap forward quickly while sprinting, animation changes, shoot the 1st bullet while sprinting, release movement quickly while spamming shoot.

Future idea: There is the this mod for GTA 3 called tightened. Would be very cool to have something similar to UC, making the levels different and more difficult(maybe add MIBs, Ropers as enemies etc.). Obviously it would be a huge task. Maybe ask your discord server if there would be modders interested in this? We could make videos playing the levels and mention the developers
I like the idea! I will try to add some functionalities first like different abilities, new weapons and enemies and then maybe I will combine it with tightened mod ;)
OMG I can't believe this! Urban Chaos is my fav PS1 game of all time and my dream is to have a Randomizer for it, specially the PS1 version. But with this we can even add new character animations, mechanics and missions right? How much of the editors are working for the PS1 version?
Yes, it's totally possible :) PS1 version differs from PC version as there are more memory limitations in different structs but I believe it should work on PS1 as well.
I can provide you a cheat engine script which I used to play as MIB. Script was created by Teslafane and me and it will work on your version of the game so no additional downloads would be needed. But in order to use this script you would need cheat engine software - do you have it ?

from what I understand it is similar to modding on biohazard, but much easier, through the editor you just need to understand how each single input works, there are many useful options aot trigger set such as setting the start of a scene when a certain coordinate is reached, or maybe taking an object triggers new events or making an animation on an object, it's cool because you can experiment as you want and the possibilities are endless, personally one piece of advice would be to build the taste for example of a new mission (all the mapping) then insert one thing at a time, I wonder if there is a limit to the size of a map (.ucm file) like can I create a huge city through the editor? or is there a byte limit?
I've come across many limits in game so there is a high probability that there might be a map limit as well. I haven't figured out the way to create map (.iam file) yet but I won't give up until I work it out 😄 .ucm files are mission files and there is a waypoint limit for each mission (512 per mission afair), but if I were to modify the source code the limit could be easily removed since it's probably only imposed to make fixed ucm file size. I could store waypoint count as a header in each .ucm file, modify logic for reading the ucm file and that would probably suffice. Thanks for the advice, I will definitely create my own level from scratch 🙂
do you mean that the map of a level (texture+modeling example city) is not found in the .ucm file? but .iam files? therefore .ucm technically contains everything that covers the objectives of a mission, for example killing an entity to unlock a new scene etc...
@@zer0pld776 Mission struct which is shown briefly at 6:21 .ucm file contains this entire struct. Which means that .ucm file contains: -waypoints ( waypoints can be objectives, enemies, dialogues, vehicles, triggers, items and so on) -lighting file name ( .lgt file which specifies lighting of a given mission - this lighting can be changed in a different editor which I covered in one of a later episodes ) -map file name ( .iam file is a location/map/stage where the mission is being played, several missions take place on the same stage like RTA, The Jump, Gun Hunt, Trouble in the Park and Urban Shakedown all take place on the same map disturb1.iam) - and few other things At 5:49 I have the disturb1.iam map loaded and police1.ucm (RTA) waypoints loaded, by double clicking on police2.ucm (The Jump) the waypoints reload but map stays the same. So yeah you could say that iam contains example city data, including insides, and XYZ coordinates of all the permanent objects on the map.
I can't believe my eyes, I just discovered this and was impressed, this is one of my favorite games as a kid, I come from the Resident Evil modding community and I remember watching it to see if anyone had started messing around with the modding on urban chaos, but there was nothing apart from some advice on how to play some levels like the jungle level or others, this really impressed me a lot, I signed up and I hope that one day a modding community on urban chaos will be born , there are really good prospects on this engine, a great thing would be to create new missions or even new animations or other stuff, who knows maybe someone will make urban chaos 2 on this engine via a total conversion mod, I can't wait for that!
If a modding community were to be created, it would open the door to so many possibilities. Hopefully, these videos will revive interest in the game, prompting people to try modding it themselves. Although many elements in the source code didn't make it into the final game, I would love to bring them to life and showcase their functionality. However, I don't believe I can achieve this on my own.
