Maggie, I cannot get enough of the music you create! it's absolutely wonderful. No clue how badly I needed to hear it ALL until the first melody played in my ears. Just beautiful.
Interesting use of the pedal sleel, which is the most beautiful instrument on the planet. It gets a bit dull when you realise not a lot of thought has gone into it beyond the original riff, but it’s still unique in my experience.
First I had to put me headphones in a bit deeper, then cup my ears, volume up… head moving up an down, slowly side to side, head bobble and then the foot tap. Calm. Out to sea. Dramatic. Awesome.
I wish this was the whole show, assuming she played more than two tracks. Either way these performances are beautiful! Hopefully Maggie will another record some day. We rarely get pedal steel records, let alone ones of such high caliber as Maggie's two.
One of my favorite surreal themes conjured by the writing of Haruki Murakami has to do with wells...strange portals? The Commendatore and the mysterious bell...a mysterious blue mark appearing on Toru's face after sitting in the bottom of a well...ladders removed from wells and ladders lowered into wells...meanwhile, the keeper of the beat says, "Hou-hou..." In other words? Enchanting!
I'm a big fan of your work and used this video to learn how to play this song myself: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OBGlxZXg5gw.html. You create things with the pedal steel that no one else can.
