I have a 2.1 GPA with no extracurriculars and I didn’t follow the A-G requirements. I just wish I tried harder but a lot of things happened in my life I just was trying to survive rather than think about my future.
Vassar ‘74 here. This is BS. So you don’t like some of the student housing. What about the academic buildings, the library, the athletic building, etc ? You could have made a 2-hour video and included interviews with students and dorm room visits. Ridiculous video.
My parents didn't give a fuck about me in highschool, I had sever mental health issues back then. All I wanted to do is play some games to drown out my parents drunkenly yelling at eachother. Please if any of you have a shitty homelife that's stopping your from excelling at school, tell your teachers and let them help you. I was always a great student, until I wasn't
Vassar '73. These weren't built yet. I got lucky during room draw and drew the biggest room on campus-a single over main entrance to Jewett and had ivy covered windows. It was so large, we used to have dance parties there🎉
I did horribly sophomore and freshman year because covid jacked my mental health up. Junior year is a huge struggle now because while everyone has been studying and doing this for the past two years, i am behind and on square. But i don't believe im dumb. I believe i can do better, i will be better. Dont give up guys, giving yo only makes you struggle harder with motivation
I've messed up my college when I was 18 , I failed some of my grades but the main reason is my parents can't afford my tuition fee anymore. I have to sacrificed because I still had siblings that were also studying. I had worked after those years and now I'm 31 and wanting to go back to college but I'm a bit worried since I have full time work and with kids. I really wanted to earn a degree now.
I have been teaching in a jesuit school. Its no doubt the best place to be.But why only men becoming jesuits???Could women be any less jesuits. Its the question of a community then why this gender difference???
Im currently in middle school and I am worried that I won't be able to go to college, in 7th grade I was slacking off in all my quarters I got some D and F and my GPA is pretty bad. I also want to mention that a buddy of mine is also worried he won't be able to go to college, he has been in a bunch of negative activities and is panicking.
I don’t know what to do. I do feel doomed. My entire school life consisted of being very mentally ill, I had only gotten away from an incredibly abusive parent at 15. Instead of studying and working hard, I was making suicide plans and attempting. I had all Fs by the time I was a freshmen.. and ended up dropping out as a freshman, with a GED. It wasn’t laziness, it wasn’t not taking it seriously, it was real life beating me down and school being in the background, after all I viewed my life as worthless and over by age 12. And now.. at 20 years old, I want to go to college. I want a second chance at education, now that I’m far away from my horrible upbringing. But I don’t know where to start, I live paycheck to paycheck and I feel like I’ll never succeed. Still battling mental health issues that I never got mental help for as a teen.
There is no logical nor sane reason for coed toilets & showers, even if areas are walled off. Women would not feel safe nor actually be safe, and there are many times in life for ALL humankind on this Earth where men and women have to be separated some how unless they are a couple. Want to know why the West is a dying society, because of madness like this. Here is a better idea, lets have a male only shower & toilet, & a female only shower & toilet.
Interesting - because there's a missing step here. Studying nursing for example is full of science classes. But the daily job is usually chosen for caregiving desires. So sometimes you can get thru a major you aren't in love with as long as you realize what and why you're studying it.
I wish there were more people like you. I know this video is 5 years old, but hear someone strong advice and encourage others to work hard, is something a lot of people can’t do. I’m a freshman in college and although I’m doing well, I wish I had gotten advice like this in high school. I hope you continue to do what you do 👍
I have a question. I did nice in first quarter in junior year but I had bad gpa (2.5) in second quarter in my career center. Is this gonna affect my future college life?
Hello, your video is greatt, explained it in much depth. Although, I was thinking maybe its better for me to write about my Extended 4000 essay from IB, I wrote this essay under two months from a scratch while other students write within a year and got an A for it, what do you think?
? this doesn't make any sense. All it takes is a simple email/call to the university to let them know you can't afford the offer. This video is very contradictory. And no - universities don't "blacklist" entire high schools because they have an ED back out. That's ridiculous.
Of course early admissions favors the wealthy. It is those people who hire essay and SAT/ACT tutors and college counselors who educate them on how college admissions works, so of course these are the kids who will apply early and have high scores, stellar essays and meaningful extracurriculars because of all the coaching. It doesn't take a study for us to know that.
When you say, "can you afford it", what do you mean? No one has $200k in cash just sitting around, per child, to pay for college, that's ridiculous. Do you mean, is it possible to get a loan? Isn't this how college is paid for now ... debt?
