Thankyou for that hopefully they keep it up as yearlings theirs a few things i need to work on which will hopefully squeeze a few more seconds my club/feds pretty tight 2 mins fills fed sheet up so every second counts
yes hopefully bolster my stock birds a bit and got a few things planned to improve for next season trapping has been great for me just need them a little faster 👍😊
yes i sure do agree im the youngest in my club at 56 when i was a teenager everyone kept some sort of livestock but pigeons was the most popular its a hobby that offers so much to the youth a good hobby can keep you on the right path especially nowadays with so much crap in the world
I've exchanged comments with @neilpratt43 a few times, worrying about the future of the pigeon (and other) fancies, given the lack of younger people being involved.
@@neilpratt43 3 of 30 miles? A week ? Or the season? You’re a passionate pigeon fancier like me . I live miles off the winning line of flight but I had 1 hen that break this season and was high in the club and fed . She had no great training. But I want to train hard from the breaking point all winter. But would I get hit by the BOP and ruin everything I have done this year.
@hendry147147 i never trained after the last race last year but i am thinking of keepimg them sharp with a couple short ones each week till weather gets bad and same again early feb onwards
@@neilpratt43 I finish work at 10 in the morning and I have time to train. It’s going to be interesting to see how they’ll come. Financially I’ll struggle to pay for diesel but I’m really interested in this . Education is very important at the end of the race. The drive for the pigeon to make a decision to break 30 miles away from the loft
Pigeons looked shattered when they returned mate maybe get a dropping test..just to see what’s going on .hope you get good returns. Good luck for the rest of the season.
yes i agree they have not been like that weather its the wind the distance or an underlining problem i need to work out jumping them from 140 mikes to 260 in a strong west wind didnt help health wise theirs not an issue i do my own dropppings monthly have done for 20 years and theirs not an issue their but theirs something not quite right as
can be a frustrating hobby mate . you do everything the same as when they're coming well then next week your not in the hunt (been there) nothing wrong with their trapping though 👍
yes i know what you mean scratching my head im finding in this location if the winds west i see nothing dont think its the birds they have done all and more ive asked of them the ones that where back early have been coming good all season its defo a strange one onwards and upwards 👍😊
@thegeordiefellwalker8878 yes yes ive got some stock birds but only around 6 pairs still building up hoping to add a couple more prs to that i used last years race team as feeders apart from two pairs
Don’t think returns that bad Neil when you look at what’s been happening nationwide…..no explanation to whether it’s health, interference,BOP or dare I say bird quality ( contentious I know ) Does everyone just breed more ?? least you will have a few yearlings to compete
yer i know what you mean wind was suppossed to be south west but by 12 it was hard west so no what happens their was a strange one hopefully few more make it ive still 35 for next year and the 20 naturals they will get the last 2 races see how they fare
It makes me sad to see people being told not to report stray pigeons. All fanciers I've encountered want their birds back, or they at least want to know where the bird landed and that it'll be looked after in a new home.
yes your right their 90% of the time id like to think the fancier would want them back any that dont make the grade here can always be used down home as feeders for the bokharas so win win in my eyes im akways short of feeders 👍
yes i thought id do a video like this just to show those that dont know how things really are we all in this together and all need to help each other and stick together especially in this current crazy world
Evening neil I haven’t looked on the weather this weekend being as I’m not racing… but did the weather forecast predict good weather or was the weather Bob on ? It’s down to the fanciers as well to check the weather if it’s was predicted. 😢
weather has been bad here past week so 24 hr delays for first few days we thought we might have got one today monday but wasnt to be cancelling was the best decision all round
@@neilpratt43 fair enough, all fed should have the same options or the ability to take them back. It’s takes a lot of time to breed, train and get them to the club and one race ruins months of hard work. Let’s alone the birds be there for next year.
My husband says you are good man pigeons have there of days everything needs to live that pigeon you got back could be a champion or could breed some good ones I bet that bird will do you some good we drove miles for our birds they part of your family take care
yes i have heard similar if weather ok dont think the unc want to mess with national looks like we getting 2 come back races afterwards im training 20 late breds at moment for the come backs im glad to get her back she had been very consistant for me first 3 races so hopefully she slots back in next season 😊
@@neilpratt43 women can make very successful fanciers mate as they tend to get the pigeons very tame (extra special bond 👌) the club i flew in our secretary was a woman & she was top lifter one year big club as well.
@tonypeters9763 hia hopefully was 1 their late last night see whats their this morning i dont think im on the club sheet this week at best be about 12th no excuse as first 2 back where same as last week in reverse order but East in the wind they come back overs for me so minutes behind
you could see they'd had a tough race .not bad returns though 👍i took a little clip of Peterborough fed liberation at Blaydon this morning have a look at how quick they cleared.
Dont believe its a smash personally. I talk to a lot of fanciers who this year have lost large numbers of young birds when they have only taken them 10 miles down the road. Some weeks back now I witnessed a perigrine falcon going into a batch of pigeons. They scattered like crows some hitting trees and heading off in all different directions. This is happening now on a daily basis. A farmer i talked to last year told me he was walking across his field last year with his dog And there where arond 15 pigeons in trees and under hedgrows .All of which had rings on.
ohh yes for sure alot can be ut down to the Perergrines i agree their where not as jumpy or spooked as would have been with a hawk attach on a training toss but at this time of year in such big batches you dont know for sure
Well done Neil, great to see the trip to the club with your birds. You birds came in like rockets trapping is top quality mate. Good to see your getting lost birds back mate. good luck on the results look forward to seeing them Neil.
