Don't know if you knew this already, but zervices are now dunning between Ebbw Vale Town and Newport, with a 7 mile approx. passing loop between Llanhilleth (which has now gained another platform, like Newbridge), and Risca & Pontymister. Great vid, and lovely to see my local line!
Awesome video. For context on the Fernhill construction site there used to be a foot crossing for the track to get to the fields/hospital/school on the other side which was blocked off using the high fencing in early 2023. TfW then spent around 18 months on works in the area including doubling the track to allow for a passing loop and cutting down the greenery to complete the electrification works. Now they are building a bridge where the crossing used to be and the blocks of concrete are where I the supports are probably going to be and the lift is probably scheduled to take place during a planned closure from the 28th September to 6th October to complete the "last" works required according to TfW. They had to close this crossing due to the fact that large groups use it twice a day to get to and from school and it's closeness to the housing estate as well as the doubling in frequency of the trains meaning there would be 8 going across the crossing each hour accounting for both directions so the gaps between would be around 7m 30s so too busy for it to be left as a foot crossing. On an unrelated note I feel the need to correct your (close) pronunciation of cynon and afon, cynon is pronounced as cunon/cunun (either is correct) and afon is pronounced as ah-von since the letter f in welsh produces the same sound a v in english and y produces the same sound as u. also yes your pronunciation of penrhiwceiber is correct
yeovil is my home town so its quite cool to see you visit. i actually work at burger king but no idea if i was working the day you happened to be there!
The Class 231's was on the Merthyr/Aberdare line between 3 and 10 August due to Eistedffod at Pontypridd. Although the Class 231's are on the Rhymney line but in the future they will be moved to the Ebbw Vale line
You know the okehampton train only stops at in all year round is Crediton on the way to Okehampton only and in the summer it will stop at Crediton, Stamford Court and okehampton 14:28
Great video, and was looking forward to seeing Fenny Stratford, but why didnt you include the description of the station? The signal said trains can go right or left, but you never mentioned where the left hand track went. Otherwise enjoyable.
