This channel is all about providing you information and skills to help transform your mindbody--whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, or chronic pain by using scientifically proven interventions of brain science and mindfulness-based applications.
The main goal of the Myndfulness channel is to teach proven skills to unhook from our story-telling-mind-machine of ours and to pause our emotionally, reactive, habitual habits to be replaced with mindfulness skills and value-drive life choices. Doing so helps us become more psychologically flexible and leading to less suffering, which helps us to be the best "you" so you can be the best for those things that matter the most to you in life (spirituality, family/relationships, healthy lifestyle, career, etc).
This is what we mean by TRANSFORMING MINDS, which will transform lives.
Allow your transformation journey to begin! 💝 Let's do this! - Les
Hello everyone I think I have nearly convinced myself my pain is neuroplastic. I have been to two doctors. They have found absolutely nothing wrong with me. It would be so helpful to me if I knew certain symptoms other people cured them with these techniques. I hear a bunch of stories on the podcast specifically about pain. But I have a lot of i guess Flu like or covid like symptoms. Again doctors found nothing wrong) The * ones I need most convincing about. I just want to know if other people have seen these symptoms reduce in themselves. Pins Needles * Headaches Swelled glands in my groin.* Feeling hot/ fake fevers. I have took my temperature it's normal. Feeling wiped out * anxiety brain fog * stabbing pains in chest and arms aches in legs coughing, snotty nose * bubbly digestive system * unusual bowl movements and stomach pain *
I have lived with long term chronic pain due to lower back issues for over thirty years. This spinal tissue damage is still present. Big question. I have now watched a great many of these retraining the brain videos and similar treatments. The vast number of these videos talk about therapy and methods of adjusting the brain when the tissue damage is no longer present. My big question is this, Can these treatments help if the tissue damage causing this pain is still present ? A definitive answer to this question would be so very helpful. Chronic pain has dominated my life for over thirty years. Pain relieving drugs have come close to killing me on several occasions. Over the years I have tried so many third party treatments without success. Do I need to accept the pain and cope with life in the best I can or is there really a way for treatments like the one in this video helping. All advice and help would be very much appreciated.
Ricky, if you are referring to "spinal tissue injury," I'm guessing then you had a traumatic injury/spinal cord injury. PRT works best for "chronic primary pain (non-spinal cord injuries)." If you are in California and do not have a spinal cord injury, then connect with the Pain Psychology Center in Los Angeles or go to www.menda.health (if you are in California).
@@myndfulness Many thanks for your kind reply, I live in the UK. I experienced a heavy lifting accident in a factory at aged 18. For financial reasons I was forced to return to work a great deal earlier than recommended, a decision that I was to regret for a great many years. I am now 65 years old and retired. My lower back has four vertebrae with very narrow gaps and also some Cartlidge damage that has have never healed. I would like to know if any of the treatments in your video are likely to be of any benefit if there is still a source of my constant chronic pain. Once again, many thanks for your response, all the very best, Yours Ricky
We say pain recovery--and yes, with most musculoskeletal pains conditions called "primary chronic pain." Website: www.menda.health or email: hello@menda.health
Thank you, Dr. Les, you helped me VERY much with my chronic pain to go away. All glory to God to lead me to you. I would pay you or one of your colleagues to help me, but I'm in Texas! God Bless You.
Thank you so much for your kind words. We can help you through our pain coaching program with a pain coach. Email: Julie@menda.health for additional info. Happy New Year and many blessings to you!
Traveling New England with my grown daughter for my Bucket List Fall Colors Tour this info is every bit as relevant as it was 2 yrs ago when I first heard it. Can't help but wonder when you were recording these if you knew how helpful they still are, years later, and how much we might need reminders? Thank you for your service!
Yes, Amen, and Thank You, Dr. Les. Although you posted this 3 years ago during a peak of racial unrest, it is all still applicable today. As a Black woman and RN Manager whose clinical practice is Maternal Child Health, I am particularly disturbed and internally enraged about the health disparities regarding Black Maternal and Infant Health. The poorer outcomes have nothing to do with socioeconomic, nor social status, nor education levels. The disparities are only related to the color of our skin and systemic racism! Thank you for addressing these issues and helping us to calm the stress and pain in our bodies related to this. I greatly appreciate you. 💜🙏💜
Wow! That was wonderful, Dr. Les! The meditation was on hit. You have the best voice ever for it. Please tell me where the 5 Stages of Acceptance you shared came from. Is it your original material? Whether it is or is not, it's great. Thank You for Sharing and for helping all of us through this journey. I am eternally grateful. 💜🙏💜
❤ Thank You ❤ Dr. Les! This information is very helpful and quite fascinating! I'm currently working with a Lin Coach and gettin better now. I'm so excited about it that I'm looking forward to taking the PRT coach training program after I get to the other side of this so I can help others get better too. I'm an RN with a PhD who is retiring very soon. This would be such a wonderful way to continue helping others. I'm already sharing links with those I know who could benefit from this 😊
God Bless You Dr Les! I am currently vacationing on a cruise ship. I was tense and in pain while waking around. I began practicing the 4-7-8 breathing technique, and it worked great!!! My nieces are on the same cruise and have chronic pain issues too. I sent them some of your links, including this one. We're going to beat this thing with your help. Thank You. ❤🙏 ❤️
Nice job! 🎉☀️🔥 Get this book as an audiobook called "The Way Out" by Alan Gordon. Also, check out the video on What is Pain Reprocessing Therapy ( PRT)? You can scrub through and use the Somatic Tracking on a daily basis (don't wait for a major flare up) to create safety-in-me (SIM) messages to the brain/nervous system. Thanks for stopping by 🙏🏽☀️
Hi - please check with the ART training website. I do not believe so. In person for such training are more effective because you pair up and practice in each other, then you get instant feedback from the instructors.
Woo Hoo! Neuroplasticity on-the-fly-oh yeah! 🎉✊🏽☀️💕 Keep it up. Divorce the outcome (getting rid of the pain) and focus on the “process” of creating safety with sensations, emotions, and thoughts. Watch the video on this channel called 478- give it a go 🙌🏽🎉
@@krissy789 - Keep your healing journey. Flareu ups (big or small) are truly an opportunity to rewire your nervous system. It truly is very important “how you show up” to what is showing up. *Show up with fear/frustration about the flareups… We send danger in me messages to the brain and body. *Show up with curiosity and create new brain pathways of safety in me messages to the brain and body. You got this ☀️💕🎉✊🏽
It’s a new language/skill for the healing to occur, not just psychologically, but both physiological states and psychological states to promote healing. It is nearly impossible to heal until we feel safe enough. Hence, self compassion is a skill set to promote that opportunity. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. In the coming weeks. I’ll have several new videos coming out. Thanks again ☀️
Keep up the healing journey and review what is getting in your way -because it’s a little kiddo who is scared. Taking these grounding walks helps you develop “The Self “(the ideal parent/healthy parent in you from a place of compassion, courage, curiosity, etc.) and to get space from the kiddos. Your job is to really mentor those tormentors (kiddos) 🤓☀️

Hi There. Thank you for stopping by. 1. Get your suicidal thoughts address by a trained mental health professional. If you’re struggling, call a crisis line or simply text this number 988 and hit enter in the message. 2. PRT works well but deporesion will be your barrier (as you have ahared). Yes, anxiety = pain. Depression amplifies body sensations. Get that deporesion addressed. 3. If you feel unsafe, call 911. Be patient & kind to yourself.
Thanks Dr. Les for deciding to do this podcast and thanks Julia Clowney for the shout out! ART completely changed my practice when I was trained in 2014. We have had great success in the military at those installations willing to give it a shot. Extremely rewarding for patients and providers alike. I agree with everything said and am excited to see you "Spreading ART" on social media.
Now that you know that…your awareness-make a commitment to rise each day…with a value of: love/kindness/self-compassion. It’s a choice, a way of living. Simply begin again ❤️🩹
@@myndfulness hello I’m doing good and no problem ur content is great , can u please make a video on how we can overcome eating disorders or how we can overcome overeating or eating unhealthy (food addiction ) by cognitive restructuring or other psychological methods because this will help me in my journey to overcome this issue in my life and lose weight .
So glad I found your video, Dr. Aria. Thank you! I've been studying this stuff for decades, going back to all of Dr. Sarno's books. It was Alan Gordon's PRT that has made me realize that painful muscle spasms attributed to "mild" cerebral palsy, could actually be neuroplastic. The lower body weakness I've experienced my entire life, from my earliest memories of needing to hold the stair rails going up or down stairs, not being able to play on any of the equipment in the playground, etc., perhaps IS due to cerebral palsy. But MAYBE the upper body muscle spams came from decades of dealing with mobility and coordination challenges and the resulting feelings of shame and abandonment??? I'm open to releasing the spasms and the pain. Hearing YOUR version of PRT was fabulous. I love the nuances that each therapist brings to the material, often presenting me with "ah-ha" insights. I'm so grateful!!!
Hi Norma, Welcome! Yes, isn’t Alan Gordon an amazing (and funny) clinician? So glad you enjoyed the video. I had the need to clearly explain the PRT. Please do take a look around and checkout my latest video on why self compassion is so difficult. Be kind to you. Welcome, again! 💕☀️
Thanks, Dr. Les! Yes, I'm checking out your other RU-vid videos. And loving them! You're keeping me busy! You refer to step 3 in Somatic Tracking as "Positive Associated Feelings." I like that description better than the label from Alan Gordon, "Positive Affect Induction." (No disrespect meant toward the brilliant Dr. Asher who Alan credits for that wording; perhaps just too clinical for a lay person like me.) Here’s my question. In the somatic tracking exercise on this video, your Step 3 is fairly short and simple. When I’ve been doing the exercise on my own, I spend a long time on Step 3. In addition to pleasant thoughts, I sometimes envision neural pathways actually being rewired, even imagining an old-fashioned telephone switchboard. Am I overdoing it? Thank you again! With great appreciation!
