They are just a PC exercise and just futher clog up an already congested programme and sometimes the best competitors aren't in them due to the fixture congestion. In the Maynar papers in 2022 they started the plan for the season precisely in march. So probably you didn’t watch anything. They have other calendar, the main objective is Volta Portugal, don’t care about other races.
I am a proud clean Portuguese cyclist.. and I race in the portuguese profissional peloton in 2015 all season.. its was wild!!! Also race portuguese amators its crazy being beated by almost 60 years old when you 25 😂😂😂

a few times there were world tour riders (low ranked team) and many top pro-continentals that would get dropped from the main peloton. that until kyle murphy won stages 2,8 in 2021.
Only low level pros and the very amateurish have biological passport anomalies these days. If you have decent doctors, It's almost impossible. But amateurish low level pros is the PT scene in a nut shell.
We get very reliable information from Portugal that Figueiredo and Mendonça are not the only cyclists with strange results in the biological passport, that more than 10 other cyclists are being investigated, and among them, of course, more from Sabgal/Anicolor.... Of course we want to say that Mark Cavendish has nothing to do with the biological passport controversy. He would expose them to the most extreme training regiments, and when they eventually crashed, he git them tested with “Dr. Brown”. His own cooperative doctor with his own values for what was normal. This doctor would usually prescribe Thyroxine to treat the symptoms of extreme overtraining. Galen Rupp being one of the athletes having a TUE for thyroid medication. This has already been thoroughly described in the media, and Salazar will never (officially) coach again.
