I was so touched by this commercial when it came out. A very sad moment for America, but we were all one for that moment in time. I wish we could find a way to be that way again.
The full song: Be kind to your web-footed friends For a duck may be somebody's mother, Be kind to your friends in the swamp (Alternate line: She lives on the edge of a swamp) Where the weather is always damp. You may think that this is the end, Well it is, but to prove we're all liars, We're going to sing it again, Only this time we'll sing a little higher. (Repeat the song but sing it a bit higher. Continue for as many rounds as you can stand!) My version: Be kind to your web-footed friends For a duck may be somebody's mother, Be kind to your friends in the swamp (Alternate line: She lives on the edge of a swamp) Where the weather is always damp. You may think that this is the end, Well it is, but to prove we're all liars, We're going to sing it again, But we'll add a beat, and set the roof on fire. (Then an EDM beat suddenly kicks in)
My Old Man belonged to the only service branch disbanded after WWII and now almost forgotten. It was called the Naval Armed Guard and was once equal in status and size to the Coast Guard or Marine Corps. They were gunners, signal men and look-outs charged with defending the Allied Merchant Convoys from German and Japanese surface, under sea and air attack. They had their own hymn as well but I have been unable to ever find it...
I have the vinyl Christmas edition of Sing Along With Mitch too 🤗 I can't remember what I was looking for these days but I know all the lyrics to these old songs 🥳✋
As a child I knew and could sing all but the coast guard hymn. I was born into a proud Marine family, and have proud Marine nephews and great nephews. Thank you for honoring all of our armed forces.

@@jimshaarda5673 As a USAF Brat, this was our second favorite military song ("Wild Blue Yonder" always the first) we Brats had several hilarious versions. We honored what our dads did, but also enjoyed making fun of Army/Navy tunes. Just like they made fun of ours.
It chokes me up every time! I've been trying to find this for over ten years now. I remember when it first aired and my girls were little. Thank you for posting!
