Good instructions, but I would like to see you try a bite of the finished product like they do on the cooking shows. They are pureed, but are they palatable? This is the next step in the process of getting a person to adapt to pureed foods. Thank you for the good ideas.
I work in a medically fragile facility, and we use a shaker. The thickener we use is canisters of Thicken-Up, and they come with their spoon to use. We first put the correct amount if spoonfuls, then pour until we reach the designated amount, then we close the shaker and shake until it's thickened
Have u known anyone to drink their liquids like this n only like this for a year or longer? Cause its not liquid like regular water. Wouldn't u still feel thirsty cause its too thick
It is trying to eat a lot of these things to me. The only thing that I can eat well is mashed potatoes with gravy. I can eat beans if they are in a pureed form. It is even challenging to get soft scrambled eggs down. It's all good. I'm just going to try to do the best that I can in Jesus name.
How long till you were able to eat other foods or do you still have to eat soft food? Right now I only eat the foods you listed and anything that is just liquid/purée form, I just don’t want to be malnourished..I have gone to the doctor I’m just scared I may have this forever and may not be able to eat normal again it is so depressing
Hi thank you I found videos . I’m a dietary cook for nursing homes. I want learn more dysphasia, puréed, mechanical soft food. How much thickener are you adding?
I'd be interested to see you ladies eat that food in your videos and see if you enjoy it. I work with people with dysphagia and I'm always trying to create tasty food options or them. If its not appetising to me then its not appetising to them and so I need to do better. I always test my food before I serve it. Pureed bread doesn't do it for me (or many others!) so I'm on a mission to create something tastier that still fits the guidelines. I'd be super unimpressed if someone served me a soggy sandwich.
do you know which product doesnt change the flavor and make water salty? some of the products seem to change the taste of the liquid? any advice? thank youi!!
this is weird? you have to eat bulky and firm foods to exercise your jaws bone and teeth, if you don't, your jaw will get weak. How do you exercise your mouth, and jaw muscles, if all you are eating is pureed foods. it's like eating potted meat everyday.
Most people with dysphasia already have a weak jaw along with poor chewing and swallowing. This is the last resort before a feeding tube becomes necessary. Then they can no longer take food or drink by mouth. So pureed food is literally a lifesaver.
My mom's is caused by a any number of things. She has dementia, has had a stroke and now aspiration pneumonia. The dementia can make her brain forget how to chew and swallow properly as can the stroke. The aspiration pneumonia is the result of that.
