The last example,you made a mistake in the temperature. You set it -20, but it was -15, so it gave you a lower altitude by 150.

This is a great enlightening video. I'm a middle aged bloke hoping to just complete my LAPL at the moment, and the cost of doing that is fairly eye-watering, especially in these times.

Really excellent presentation. I've learned alot thanks to your straightforward explanation. It is a tricky instrument to get to grips with, but practicing each stage often helps to make it easier to read.

QNH is not the pressure level at sea level.
@Goproflying
@Goproflying Год назад
Correct, it is the pressure setting required to determine the aircraft elevation at an aerodrome, with respect to mean sea level.

Example 3 - on the CRP-5, Answer comes out between 10000 and 10100, which is the Answer you would get using ‘10’ in the T.E.C. Equation instead of ‘7.66’… (10660-600) 😉

Hi sir if mach speed is 0.78 & OAT is -28*c @ FL 240, then magnetic course of plane is 260* True wind 280*, mag variation 11*E, magnetic wind 269*, Wind speed 50 kts, Distance of leg 93.3 nm. So what's the true airspeed, Ground speed, & time of the leg *How to do with manual calculation without CX-3?

What's the black plane?
@Goproflying
@Goproflying 3 года назад
It's hard to find information on it. I think it's just a spare aircraft, sometimes there are two. Generally used for carrying extra pilots in case someone falls ill. They're never used in displays.

Please, I have a question about this "A flight is planned at FL180 over Mont Blanc (elevation 15782ft). The MSL is 983hPa, from an aerodrome at MSL, and the temperature of the air up to the summit is 25 degrees C colder than ISA. Determine the true altitude of the aircraft at Mont Blanc and hence the terrain clearence". What is the height correction for the temperature deviation from ISA?
