I'm wondering if QuickBooks has changed their website. I've spent hours trying to sign up with out a business to get certified. I can't find it anywhere. I've called them 3 times. No one, and I mean no one, from QuickBooks knows anything about how to navigate all their different websites or how to sign up for certification. Please help. Or please do a new video showing how to find it online.
Great question! I thought I wanted to do taxes as well. Boy was I wrong! After 2 tax seasons I gave away my tax business and have focused solely on bookkeeping ever since!
By conducting our consultations in a way that shows how working with us can move the needle in their business to the tune of tens of thousands (or more) dollars. Bargain basement bookkeepers don't do that and so they're looked at as commodities. If you can show prospects that you take a proactive approach to helping them grow their businesses instead of just putting numbers in boxes, they'll be willing to pay a premium for that growth.

Although being QBO certified does open up a nice marketing channel, and since it's free, there's really no downside to getting the certification.
The client will typically connect their bank & credit card accounts to QuickBooks. Otherwise, you can assist with that while on a Zoom screenshare to guide them through the process.

Years ago, I had no computer. I did everything with paper and pencil and put it in a file cabinet. Now, I need to learn QuickBooks and do it the updated way. 😂

Yes! Some of the most notable red flags are if the client immediately asks about price, seems like a micromanager, and/or the company has tight cash flow so they are always struggling to pay their obligations.
I was listening to your comments about earnings shown on UpWork, and just one question: How do you know if some of those bookkeepers don't continue working with some of the clients they met on UpWork, out of the platform, after the initial project? The earnings shown on UpWork show just that, how much they earned on the platform. It doesn't mean the platform can't make valuable connections for them, which may extend beyond UpWork. I believe many people use UpWork with a purpose to create connections, that may continue out of the platform. Someone may get referrals from happy customers to other businesses which are not on UpWork. It's a platform for making connections, that's all.
