None of these videos on fixing the random reset problem say that a loose, defective or dirty contacts on the Controller Port Ribbon Cable can cause a reboot, power off or no video and audio problem. I was having a problem with my Dreamcast that has a DCHDMI Mod getting a no video problem after the Produced By or Under License by Sega Logo screen when it loads a game or in my case loads the MODE Game Select Screen. I cleaned the pins on on the Power supply connection and bent the spring contacts towards the back but still got the same problem. I discovered it was the Controller Port when I forgot to plug in the Ribbon Cable and the video cut out after the Sega Logo. I have the Dreamcast DC DreamPSU alternate Power Supply so apparently it does not power off the Dreamcast when the Fan is not detected like the Stock Dreamcast Power Supply does so I never suspected it was a controller port issue that has the fan attached to it.
Hey there, there is a thread about this on the creators github: github.com/wagiminator/C64-Collection/issues/18 Basically, the 1571 is reported to work, and the 1581 "I suspect the 1581 will work as well, as long as you don't use operations that require things like partitions or extra tracks (formatting). " I personally only have the 1541, so that is all i can test myself.
You missed a step and that's why the SDcard shell was wobbly. The gdemu bord screws on to the bottom of the shell with two screws, so it should look much like the original GD-Rom unit. Then you connect it to the board and screw in the screw in the back and the spacer and the longer screw in the front. You were probably wondering why you had 2 extra screws left over. ;)
🤔. I don't recall having any left over screws, but i will go look at it. If that were the case, that would have made the insert a lot more solid. Thanks for the comment!
@@Retro_Cave The kit should have included 6 screws, but yeah assembly was abit confusing without instruction or pictures. Took me like an hour trying to figure out how all the parts came together. Here is a video its a different kit i believe its an older version, just imagine that bracket that is separate and gets attached to the shell is now just one hole piece in the newer version. It should still give you the basic idea how it gets put together. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kdb2tI_zoL4.html
@@cidelogic I watched that video, mine totally didn't come with that mounting bracket. I'm sure its just a different design or something, i got mine here: amazon.com/dp/B0CKQZ8KK1?ref_=pe_386300_442618370_TE_sc_as_ri_0. And after watching my video over again, i got two screws i can't account for in the video. That being said, i'm sure your right, i could have attached the shroud to the board first. Welp, maybe i will take it apart and fix it properly (assuming i can find the screws)
Some many ups and downs, i had to get my tv to even tune to channel 96, then the RF adapter was bad, then the fuse was blown. In the end, its working though :)
the black insert came with the mod. Its injection molded and not 3d printed. This is the kit i bought: www.amazon.com/dp/B0CKQZ8KK1?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
I had a similar issue it turns out that the cartridge slot needs to be cleaned of corrosion of any dirt, dust, same for the cartridges. If your model is the one where you can remove the cartridge pin connector and clean or replace it. I would also recommend replacing the pico fuse, sometimes it can be low voltage from the actual power supply that plugs into the wall. And it could very well be the on board PPU or CPU chips even RAM which you could replace.
@@Retro_Cave Yep, I absolutely agree with you. In addition, the risk of destroying various components and/or the circuit board is quite high, as the processing temperature for lead-free solder is significantly higher. The longevity of the solder joints is also highly questionable.
Good job! I'm glad you were able to get it working! While I do love the Secret of Mana OST, I do wonder if maybe you should switch songs a little more often. I also noticed that this is your longest video, so congrats on that!
Which LED? The adapters i make should all have green LED's. The LED's on the 1541 disk drive really shouldn't matter what color they are, as they are not RGB.
Oh, no problem. There is a battery inside that needs replacement. Here is a video tutorial: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-10J9l2NfSIo.html
Both my SNES's were working until i started messing with mine, and i did something to it. It didn't just stop working on its own. I'm STILL trying to figure out what i did to it.
That would be the key step in the repair is to understand what you did when you first started tinkering. Sometimes, accidental tinkering can result in a loss. What was the cause that got you to crack it open? My guess when the fuse blew its a possibility it also knocked some of the ppu or cpu ic's out. Usually a blow fuse is a easy fix but if more current went in after the fuse blew by tinkering that could have caused the damage. @Retro_Cave
Could be a processor problem. they make snes cartridges that are made to troubleshoot specific codes that you can look up. Please post an update video🙏🏻
I MIGHT have figured out the issue. I was poking around looking for shorts when i found a shorted capacitor... which in turn led me to a shorted inductor L1. I ordered new parts and will do an update when i get them.
I love my DiskBuddy64, and just used it to make 3 disks today! I especially love how FAST it is. It writes something like a fastloader to the 1541 when you first connect it, so every format/write/read is much faster than it would be normally. It’s a much less expensive option than the 1541 simulators on the market, and I like using my real disks. I’m happy you are making these for people.
The 1541 disk drive. I had to make a Capsella Science toy into a fan with two AA batteries to stop the thing overheating when I put disk B 'TOWN' in to enter a city in Exodus Ultima III. Oh the memories. Go near town, change disk, connect lead on batteries and let fan spin up, Move onto the town square. Pray... Good times Why didnt you show it in operation?
For starters, its packed away. Secondly, when i decided to make these i got a tad bit in a hurry and fried my U2 CIA chip. I can make a video using this device, but i can't actually use the disks on my C64 at the moment :(
From wikipedia: In soldering metals, flux serves a threefold purpose: it removes any oxidized metal from the surfaces to be soldered, seals out air thus preventing further oxidation, and by facilitating amalgamation, improves wetting characteristics of the liquid solder. Basically it allows the solder to flow and adhere to the parts smoothly. Otherwise the solder will bead up like water droplets. Best way to think of flux is as a surfactant.
Excellent to know extremx. I'll be glad to check the NGCD video from you soon bro. I'm now subscribed to your channel and looking forward on seeing your content. Thank you for the reply kind sir. 8^) Anthony..
Hi extremx. Great video done by you and glad that the Neo-Geo AES you purchase is back running and taken care in the simplest way by fleshing up those traces, adding the all so awesome Unibios. Glad that the results turn out fantastic. 8^) My name is Anthony. I'm the topic starter of, The Official NEO-GEO Thread over on the forums on AtariAge. I posted your video on there for others to take notice and learn from your upload bro. If you plan on uploading more videos pertaining to the Neo-Geo and/or SNK, I'll be glad to share them on the thread with your permission. Thank you for posting this extremx. Keep up the good work. 8^) Anthony..
Thanks for the feedback! You are always welcome to share my videos to anyone. I will have a Neo Geo CD video coming up a little later, so keep an eye out for that one too :)
Look at this video, looks like the same guy on the same night. Pm me if you have any info.m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1489411564417320&id=100000454735286
