Bullseye is a weekly celebration of the best of arts and culture. Host Jesse Thorn sifts the wheat from the chaff to bring listeners in-depth interviews with the most revered and revolutionary minds in our culture.
Amazing interview, Tyrese surprised me with his Awareness of self, community, POC & his willingness for self reflection & analysis, one of the best I've heard on 🎯, BIG RESPECT, Tyrese!☮❤💫💐
thank you! I had told the story on a show long ago, and Com told it completely separately on some tv talk show and a few people sent it to me. I couldn't believe it. I was like... "uh... that was me."
For a variety of reasons, I've shifted to mostly engaging with video content (even if it's often in the background) over strictly audio content. So as an early TSOYA fan who in recent years only occasionally listens to the odd Bullseye on a road trip or something, I'm ecstatic you've got video for Bullseye now (as well as Judge John Hodgman). As a sometimes-producer myself, I know it's a lot of extra work, so just know it doesn't go unnoticed or unappreciated!
thank you! We've got more production enhancements coming - for one thing, this is webcam video of me because of some first-time-out tech issues with my proper camera.
Loved her in Newsradio. In an interview she was asked who she would like to have play her in a bio movie. She said Dave Foley because he was so funny and looked great in a dress.
👎 for putting ads in the middle of a video. We pay for RU-vid so we do not have to listen to ads. So you get a thumbs down for putting an ad in the middle.👎👎
About 30 years ago, I attended an Aimee Mann concert in San Diego even though I was suffering from a raging case of the flu. She was that important to me. Still is.
Finally an interview that lasts long enough to get into the deep mind of Ben Edlund. He is too deep for main-stream commercial media, but bless him for hanging in there.
Im excited to listen to this, ive never heard it before. Joe(the character) may seem at first foolish, naive, unconcerned.. especially beside the very concerned Sarah.. what i came to love about him was his deep appreciation for everything around him. Humble things or activities become so special and savored. It makes me appreciate the gentle repetitions of my own life. Im so bummed season 3 was the last one.
What an interesting and telling interview. I wonder how that impacted the interviewer when he asked if he knew to ask him that. Like he answers with well, I am a professional, and kind of scoffed. I wonder what he meant by that? Was he asked a lot about that maybe? Or maybe he was always afraid someone would bring that up? It seems obvious as a question in retrospect. There are a lot of aspects of BMSR that have that hippie flower acid washed lyrics kind of vibe. Maybe this is what lead to the Tobacco project in general, him not liking being shoe horned in that psychedelic genre. As musicians I think we all struggle with that, people need to know where to put things, and that is inevitably going to get you grouped, while some might hate labels, or feel like they are different than the rest, but at the end of the day it is the sales clerk stocking the album and telling the customer what it sounds like, that makes that call. Thanks for sharing.
"There's an aspect to the ostensibly jaunty, cheerful piece of music that then suddenly starts to turn melancholy but w/ a much heavier lyric on top." If "A Good Man Is Hard To Find" were a song.
What I immediately think hearing his name is boom goes london boom paree more room for you and more room for me don't wanna hurt no kangaroo the got surfin' too... and etcetera to when Harry died, then more etcetera. Randy is the man. Well he may be a fool but he's our fool went to the park took some paper along and that's where I wrote this song... every time it rains I tell myself that I don't mind it at all, but I do... Sail Away... Marie... Can leave her hat on. It's money that matters...the amazing dancing 🐻
The finest broadcaster I have ever heard. His witty commentary and masterful storytelling was second to none. ❤ I miss him to this day. God rest Hank’s soul. And although I’ve never met you Hank I want to thank you for being my friend, my comfort and the voice of my beloved San Francisco Giants. Hod take you in.🙏
Was anyone else sad to find out he doesnt like psychedelics 😢 man that just man me so sad for some reason. Anyways lovely interview and a cool as mellow guy. Love love love his music ❤ it really resonates with me. Panic blooms is my all time favorite album followed by skids and angels second.
I enjoyed this, especially the recording of Babs and Randy performing "I Think It's Going to Rain Today." Wow! It touched me. Shawn R., Mo-Mutt Music/Sacred & Secular
I recently started to listen to her again after over a decade or so, I hate when people say she writes depressing songs and to be all happy and whatever, she is an artist a true one, her work is her life and its really helped me through a lot of moments even on a regular day her voice, words, and music soothes my spirit. So is wonderful
