The Breeders Crown series has crowned champions in every division for trotters and pacers and has been the deciding factor in Horse of the Year honors since 1984. More than $164 million in purse money has been disbursed over 346 events.
Lol, something so profoundly gripping about frost breath, rofl.😂 Nice outtakes and included some track surface ingredients. What is in the weed you are smoking?
I have so many memories of this race. Working for Team Nordin stable I was grooming Melody Cedar #5 and it was my first road trip with a horse. Owner called in Bill Fahey to drive who had driven some of my Dad's horses at The Meadows which sort of surprised me because the leading driver at the track, Trevor Ritchie I believe was initially scheduled to drive. Kudo's to Bill Fahey, he was the first catch driver to keep her flat while we raced her a lot at Freehold. She had an underbite, I could put my fingers up under her front teeth and she couldn't bite me. I once gave her some small grain (flax seed I think), she didn't like and when she finished all that was left were the seeds in her feed dish. I wasn't with her when she raced in Delaware Ohio, but when she came back she had a goat with her to encourage her to eat. While wintering in Fla at Pompano she would run off and the whole backside know who she was and where she belonged. She pulled so hard that while at Gaitway Farms, Trainer Jan Nordin came flying past the barn and drove her into a fence to stop her. Then in Florida after a month off she went out for her first training mile, Jan drover her and I forgot one essential piece of equipment. When Melody exerted herself she would pee so I had to use a mud apron. Oops... Jan came back and well, I thought I might get fired he was so mad. It was fun in the stable as Nordin had a LOT of success in the breeders crown series. Amneris won her division and Nordin finished 1-2-3 in the 3yo Colt Trot with Baltic speed winning. I have also gone training miles with Hall of Famer Jimmy Takter, I think it was his second year in the States, and learned a lot from him. I remember Jimmy's wife and daughter Nancy stopping by back when Nancy was about three years old and still follow her. My Brother was in the same stable taking care of the meanest horse I ever met. Ata Joe Montana. He had a lot of success until he started having knee problems. He asked me to take care of him while away for a weekend and I went to feed him... his ears back, lunging toward me with his mouth wide open and barely managed to back away. I could go on but yes, those were fun times and cherished memories!
