Portuguese greetings. There is an error in your video... The Nazazé lighthouse (Forte de São Miguel Arcanjo) The construction of this monument began during the reign of D. Sebastião, in 1577, aiming to defend the cove from attacks by Algerian, Moroccan and Dutch pirates and Normans who invested on the Atlantic coast. In 1644, and due to its position, King João IV, the Restorer, ordered its remodeling and expansion...

@@duskywanderer if your going during high season, maybe you would be better off booking in advance ( TripAdvisor) otherwise you can do everything there on the spot
Excellent video, very useful and practical information. What boat trip did you get from Pinhão? Was it the two hour return trip up to Tua and back? We are going there next week. I’ll try to decide whether to just get the train to Pinho, maybe visit a port house and do the 2 hour boat trip to Tua and back OR to instead get off the train at Régua, have a look around there and then do the slightly longer one-way trip on the boat from Regis to Pinhao. We would only have one hour in Pinhao then before getting the train back to Porto. I heard that the scenery is nicer upstream from Pinhao? Thanks
The two hour boat I believe it’s a bit too long, I would suggest the one hour tour and that extra hour spend it at a wine tasting. As for Regua, hmmm not much to see there. Much better if you go straight to Pinhão
@@GoTravelPlanet thanks for your replies. I think that you can only do a 2 hour trip from Pinhao on the boat. Based on your replies, I think we will get the train to Pinhao and do the boat trip from there, go to a port house and maybe hire a kayak for 1-2 hours (or just have a walk along the river) before getting the train back to Porto in the evening
@@TheKayakCrew They offer both boat trips, one hour and two hours. There are three or four companies doing so. The two hour is too long. Enjoy your trip! Ther's another video of the Douro coming up soon, so stay tuned :)
@@TheKayakCrew You also have another option which is brilliant as well, if interested, send me an email (you can find the email on the description). It's a private tour for individuals or small groups (maximum 8 people) and I can get you an interesting discount. Let me know, I'll be happy to help, Cheers!
Your videos of Porto and surrounding area are not only informative but amazing. I will be in Porto and surrounding area this fall for 10 days and now have anode how to really enjoy Portuguese Porto. Thank you You don't happen to have a RU-vid video for Braga?
I’m so happy you found my videos useful. Video of Braga coming up in about a month. Anything you need just let me know and I’ll be happy to help. I read and answer all my messages
Dude I lived there for years I go back an awful lot I have a house there there place has been ruined and social media has a lot to answer for that I am fully entitled to my opinion please stop forcing yours.
@@paulc9848 social media has done a lot of damage, especially IG I totally agree with you on that. Hey not forcing at all here, of course you're entitled to your opinion. Have a great day mate and thanks for watching
We enjoyed Portugal. It has a rich history. It's geographical location makes it unique for commerce, organic food and fishing. I share the sentiments of the entire group. ONE LO VE.
Am glad to chance upon your great video while researching for my April trip to Porto. May I know which tour tour you selected while at Das Cavvalhas? Is it Vineyard guided tour or Royal Bus Sightseeing tour or something else? Many thanks.
Just their own little bus tour to the top of the hills (vineyards) it took about an hour and it was very affordable with Porto wine tasting included. I cannot remember exactly how much I paid for it but I believe it was just under 20 Euros. Totally worth it
hi @gotravelplanet - do you recommend driving or taking the train to douro valley? I'll be driving from Coimbre , i was wondering if I should drive to the Douro valley first then go to Porto
Driving you can see more. There’s many wine estates in the surroundings. Going by train is a different kind of trip, it is more of and adventure journey. I will be uploading another video of the Douro in a few days. So stay tuned
Hey Norman, glad you liked it. Between the first two Quintas in this video you can easily walk from one to the next, takes about 5 minutes. For the last one, you take a taxi from the train station and for 10 Euros they'll drop you off at the top of the hill and then it's a five-minute walk. It is very easy to move around.
Faz pena saber que quem faz a maior riqueza com o nosso vinho do Porto nao sao os Portugueses mas sim os Ingleses e Americanos e que os Portugueses a maior parte do tempo so servem como escravos no nosso proprio pais.
Between 1974 and 1983 I spent my study years at the Faculty of Medicine and got to know Turin very well , especially the older innercity area. then in 2018, on a return visit the inner city is much the same, except for rationalization of the Tram system, but the outer city ( "suburbs") have much enlarged. And new modern tramways criss cross the outer areas. Hope to visit again old haunts and old friends as well. DocAV
