My egg will not stay up when I open for first time - what am I doing wrong?

Thanks for a great video. I just changed my old set up bands to the new set up on my 15 year old egg and it took about 2 1/2 hours. I feel great.

Good video. There's no reason to remove the dome though. The new assembled bands will slip right over the top.

Pretty helpful, got mine done today. Instructions are crap. If you leave the band screws off, you don’t need to remove the top.

Very helpful video, thank you for posting. The new style band is WAY better than the old which was much more difficult to work with.

My Egg turn 17. I replaced the old style hinge and bands with the new assembly. The lid no longer opens completely as it did with the old hinge. I guess I’ll get use to it. I replaced the Nomex while I was doing this.

Great video...Why you put the springs in upside down? If you put them in the other way, they fall out when there is no tension on them. Thanks for the video.

I’m changing my band to the new one, but I need to do my gasket too. Should I change my gasket before my band assembly ?

The spacers... I've searched numerous websites for the spacers. Are these free at BGE dealers or can they be purchased most places? Thanks and I will referring back to your detailed video once my band arrives.

Wish I would have watched your video. I was given a big green egg and readjusted the bands to correct the underbite. The first time I opened it...the top went crashing to the floor. 😔

All I can say is thank you!! Your step by step instructions are excellent and I rewound the video or stopped it many times throughout the installation process. If BGE is going to write instructions with an “Ikea” style photo, they need to hire a better artist. Without this video I would have stared at it with zero success.

Should have replaced that burned out gasket while you had the dome off. I’m selling my egg and going with a lone star Grillz stick burner.

Thanks ordered a new hinge assembly for my XL. Will be replacing the gasket and installing the new hinge and bands the next day or two. Video is a big help.

Great tips. When the kit came it looked overwhelming. Your video allowed me to remove the old one (which broke in the middle of cooking 2 Boston butts) and replace in about 1 hour. And I did not have to repeat any steps. Thank you.
