lay(wo)man here…. you chop, you wet trim, you dry 1-2 weeks and then put the buds with boveda packs in jars? Lid completely closed? No burping/opening the jars several times per day to let in fresh air?
Yes, you can age cigars in a Boveda Humidor Bag. Some people like to age cigars long-term at a slightly lower RH--our B65 (65% RH) packets vs the B69 (69% RH) packet that comes preloaded inside the Humidor Bag. If you do decide to switch out the B69 for the B65, just don't use them together in one bag or cigar storage container. What are you aging, my friend?

Unplug your electric humidor before you season it with Boveda. Here's what else you need to know about seasoning your wineador with Boveda 84% RH packets: If a windeador has wood trays and shelves, you should season the unit before adding cigars. Seasoning conditions the wood components inside the wineador. ---• • Remove the clear plastic overwrap before using. Do NOT open the humidity packet inside. • Place the Boveda 84% packs inside an EMPTY UNPLUGGED electric cabinet/cooler. Close the door and don’t open the cabinet for 7 days. • After 7 days, open the cabinet, remove the Boveda seasoning packs and discard them-they aren’t reusable. • Move your items back in, plug in your cabinet & add new Boveda 69% RH maintenance pack. NEVER MIX the 84% with any other %RH.

That's ok if the seasoning packs still feel squishy. After 14 days, take them out and replace them with B72 packs. The relative humidity (RH) inside your humidor doesn’t matter while you’re seasoning with Boveda 84% RH packs. Just ignore your hygrometer for 14 days. Read more here: bovedainc.com/question/what-should-the-relative-humidity-rh-be-in-my-humidor-while-i-season-with-boveda/
Cigar canoeing generally happens for one of three reasons. (1) Your cigar isn’t lit well enough at the outset. (2) The cigar has poor construction, which can lead to a poor burn/combustion. (3) You're smoking your cigar too fast. Remember the 3-count cigar rules: - 3 count draw in;- 3 count hold in your mouth; - 3 count release of smoke Learn more here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_Tzvh_XcasQ.html PS If you're storing your cigars with the appropriate number of Boveda for your container, then canoeing is most likely a construction issue.
i season my humidor for two weeks with 84% packs and they are still full. Only the corners of the pack was slightly stiff is there a reason for that? i have a 120 count humidor and put 4 packs of 84%. my bluetooth hygrometer was reading 84-85% humidity during the last week of seasoning.
For a 125-count wood humidor, you should use 5 instead of 4 Size 60 Boveda-for seasoning as well as maintaining the RH with standard packs. The relative humidity (RH) inside a humidor doesn’t matter while you’re seasoning with Boveda 84% RH packs. Just ignore your hygrometer for 14 days. (And take this opportunity to re-calibrate your humidor hygrometer--they quickly fall out of calibration and should be reset every 60 months. Find out more here: store.bovedainc.com/collections/for-cigars/products/boveda-one-step-hygrometer-calibration-kit-75-rh.) Why doesn't a hygrometer reading matter while you're seasoning your humidor? A hygrometer only measures the amount of moisture in the air inside your humidor. While Boveda for Seasoning packs are in your humidor, they increase the moisture within the cell structure of the wood, not the air. We call that the free water space. A hygrometer can’t measure the moisture in wood, so forget about the RH readings for now. Just so you know, Boveda scientists have tested how much moisture it takes to “fill up” a wood humidor’s free water space. To fully season a 100-count wood humidor, it needs about 100 grams of moisture. Each Size 60 Boveda 84% RH releases about 35 grams of moisture. That’s why we recommend using four seasoning packs for a 100-count humidor (35 grams x 4 = 140 grams).
I just ordered more boveda, but realized it’s pouring outside. The packaging it usually paper like so I was wondering if the resealable boveda pouch will prevent water from getting in?
Great question @mssmusic15! I assume you're ordering Boveda in a multi pack. The resealable bag protects your Boveda. The factory-sealed bag will keep water out, so you'll be good if Boveda is delivered in the rain. Individually overwrapped Boveda will also stay dry if delivered on a rainy day.
It's bizarre this era of "Wet nugs" we are in. Nobody used to want moist nugs, people wanted 'Dense, Hard and dry" nugs. I use the 49% Boveda, which dries it out to the point where you can easy grind it up
We appreciate your feedback. We have forwarded your comment to our pricing team. Remember you can save on Boveda by subscribing to have packs auto shipped every three months.
Remember that you need to recalibrate a humidor's hygrometer every 6 months. They regular fall out of calibration and give you inaccurate results. What kind of container are you using to store your cigars in--plastic, leather, etc.? Check out our easy-to-use hygrometer calibration kit here: store.bovedainc.com/collections/for-cigars/products/boveda-one-step-hygrometer-calibration-kit-75-rh
I always use a Tupperdor, I recently purchased a Humidor and when I brought it home I closed a dollar bill in the lid and the dollar bill pulled right out with no resistance will that improve after being seasoned will the seal "Tighten up" ?
Thanks for reaching out. Seasoning may help that seal a bit as the wood absorbs moisture over the 14-day seasoning period with Boveda 84% RH packs. Not sure if you're using a Boveda Starter Kit for Humidors. If so, after you're done seasoning, replace the 84% packs with the 72% RH Boveda that come with the kit. After three months if air is still leaking out of through the lid, you might have to switch from 72% RH Boveda refills to 75% RH. (Read more about 75% RH Boveda here: store.bovedainc.com/collections/for-cigars/products/boveda-size-60-4-pack-75-rh-for-cigar) And if you're using a hygrometer to check your readings, remember to recalibrate it every 6 months, to make sure those readings are accurate. (Link to the Boveda Calibration Kit: store.bovedainc.com/products/boveda-one-step-hygrometer-calibration-kit-75-rh) Have a great weekend and let us know how it goes.
It makes a lot of sense. If you eat (or smoke) similar things all of the time, you can’t pick out different notes and you get used to certain flavours. No hate, but I never understood how folks eat or smoke the same thing over and over. Also, the 100% focus is right too. If I sit and smoke and do nothing else, I can really enjoy and find certain notes whereas if I smoke and do other things, I cannot. That’s not to say you have to sit and do nothing every time you smoke, but it is worth it to take some time while you’re smoking to really key in on what you’re tasting.
