Woodworking can be fun, exciting and challenging - and it can also be VERY frustrating. Most times, that frustration hits when our current skills don't match up to our aspirations and goals to make that next project. My channel is focused on sharing skills, tips, tricks and how-to videos. I look forward to engaging with others that love the craft of woodworking.

Hey Ben, l want to thank you for talking about your physical deficits and pain. Yes, seriously. I am a 63 yr old 5’1” female physical therapist. I too have a body that has crapped out and live with pain daily, yet I only let it slow me down. It will never stop me. I am constantly confronted with people who choose to let pain and deficits be a ticket to couch surfing and more dysfunction. Men look at me with a side eye when I talk about wood working and more importantly, when I am trying to motivate them to get up, get out, enjoy life and be productive. Women too. You made me cry hearing you talk positively. We need more people with your mindset. Besides that, your entire video addressed all of my workspace and physical challenges. I will be buying some parallel guides. Thank you.

First, every carpenter NEEDs a square. Put it on fense, loosed the adjusters, square the rail and tighten. 1 or 2 steps.

Also, a table saw needs to be sturdy enough, needs enough surface and length to support the work piece to keep it straight, you have to be able to accurately set it etc, all things that cost quite a lot of money and space. A tradk saw with a long guiderail is accurate, takes up little space and costs less to be accurate. But i agree it takes some mental adjustment.

In my opinion TSO makes the best guide rail connectors, and their fasteners are designed in a way to not damage your track.

How did you adjust the leg into levelling of the suport to the MFT?
@BenMarshallDesigns
@BenMarshallDesigns 2 месяца назад
The leg swings in and out a little to adapt to an uneven floor, you can also twist the bottom for height adjustment as well

Good Video.. I want to say the following. You can buy them if ya want. I have found them to be no more accurate that what you can make yourself on a decent table saw and router table
@BenMarshallDesigns
@BenMarshallDesigns 4 месяца назад
That's true, but not everyone wants to make them themselves. I've gone through the stage of 'making my own jigs' in my workshop, and I just no longer want to do that lol. I'd rather just pay for some used ones and be done with it!

Guess what most production shops use. A table saw, it's not even the sliding table saw, just the regular cabinet type. Nothing beats a good table saw for repeatability and other types of cuts. Edit. You first cut to size and rip to precision. There's going to be waste irrespective of method used. Table saw is faster and involves no setup between very small and large pieces
@BenMarshallDesigns
@BenMarshallDesigns 5 месяцев назад
not everyone has the space for a tablesaw. A track saw, guides, and track take up considerably less space and are more mobile than tablesaws.

Maybe I’m overthinking this, but I’m having a pretty hard time getting my guides properly calibrated. For some reason I can’t just make the mark like you do on top and calibrate that way. I’m off by about 1mm. I take a square and match the line so that my track saw blade(in fast fix mode) is right off to the side of it. Yet I’m still off by 1mm. Do you think maybe I should draw 2 lines (2mm apart from each other) and try to set my blade right in between them?

Maybe? Usually these small issues are user error

That saves me a fortune in bags. I have to Festool dust extractors, one for workshop, one for site work. Whenever either bag is full I attach the dust separator and suck out the dust from a full bag. Then just dump the dust from the tub later. Nice video
@BenMarshallDesigns
@BenMarshallDesigns 4 месяца назад
I'd advise that you just shell out the cash for additional bags - over time it will clog up eventually and could put more strain on your motor.
