Yes!! That is amazing. I'm just really appreciating how intelligently laid out everything is, and appreciated hearing the reasoning behind design decisions. Beautifully done. Also, I really love the sunken bathrooms and hope you keep them... guess I'll find out! I'm enjoying catching up!
Jotting stuff down as I watch: -Give me those custom trees NOWWWW -I love how uniquely open and dry the gorilla habitat is. The standard lawns and trees with extensive shade are nowhere to be found which is a refreshing take for sure. -I was really curious how you would handle the bat exhibit since it has no real world basis, but you knocked it out of the freaking park. If I wore glasses I just know they would fog up instantly in there. You are truly the master of mist. -As I've previously stated, those wooden planters are my everything. Reminds me of seeing old footage of when they were building Jungle Cruise at Disney, and realizing that everything you see has been planted by people. -COME ONNNN with that stairway. Custom anchor plates? get outta town -The African area will rest in peace but we both know its good to wipe away anything you know could be better Amazing job!
Glad you noticed the difference of aesthetic from other gorilla habitats! There’s definitely enough shade throughout the day and near their viewing gallery, so I thought it’d be cool to make it a little more visually sparse 🙌🏻
I'm so happy I've lived long enough to witness another spectacular episode of Balboa Zoo 😭🥲 This must be one of the most breathtaking exhibits I've ever seen been made in this game. Everything about this area is so perfect. True inspiration.
I've said it before, but the café and area around it are my favourite non-exhibit build you've done --- it's so lush and detailed, with all these custom plants, natural path borders and overall feels very realistic and immersive. And please don't say you're bad at interiors anymore :D!!! And I have to agree with jAsh, the gorilla exhibit is your best exhibit work for sure! I mean those waterfalls and the landscaping overall are to die for <3 <3 <3 Really great and thoughtfull design. You get so many money shots my head is spinning. I keep on getting lost with all the details you guys just brushed over, I could probably spend 10 hours just staring at this. Can't wait to see your new and improved african savannah as well. Love you guysss <3 <3 <3
While yes, the animals aren't stupid enough to fall down the cliff, accidents still happen. I think husbandry manuals do no longer recommend U moats for that reason, instead opting for V moats, where the cliff would be a diagonal slope. I think an exhibit with a cliff like this is likely to have some hotwire/hotgrass around the cliff to disincentivize the gorillas going near it. (also I love it it looks amazing)
So much good stuff here friend! I’m so proud you’re finally showing off this beautiful, realistic build. This is by far some of your best work, and that’s really saying something!
Obviously don't answer if it's a TMI kinda thing, but are either of you two lgbt? Speakin as a queer person myself I keep getting those vibes and like seeing lgbt folk in the gaming communities I'm in. Regardless I love that you guys both seem really secure in your masculinity since I feel like that's so rare to see from (presumably) male gamers even in spaces like this. Only other folk I know who give off the vibes y'all do are the McElroys from the MBMBAM/TAZ podcasts and I'm always excited to find new folk who have that same chaotic but self assured vibe to them. Anyways I'm also from OB San Diego and spent basically my entire childhood going to SeaWorld since it was a bike ride from my house, so it's a real trip to see y'all capture its vibes so immaculately. Seriously I keep swearing these are just screenshots of SeaWorld. Have either of you been to the San Diego Safari Park (used to be called Wild Animal Park)? I live close to there now and adore it and think it's got some great design choices as of late. Also have either of you been to the SeaWorld Howl-O-Screams? My best friend and I have been to them since they started and I feel like some of their decor is great for inspo for potential holiday theming in the game.
I needed to hear someone say don’t be afraid to tear it down and start again. My entrance building is way out of scale and I have been resisting rebuilding it. Thanks for the great content. ❤
such incredible work once again! I love details such as the 90's wave overhang on a buidling made in the 80's. Little touches like that add so much realism.
What you guys have done is quite amazing Leaf, as much as their work is beyond incredible and inspiring, it is all possible because of heroes like you and the lion. The animal in still poses is such a brilliant idea, because we can actually build large aquariums without the systems crashing, something that is not always the case with the zoos. Also I hope in the future you guys can add more of the still poses because there are so many more fishes in aquariums than mammals in zoos. Just wow. The Monterrey Bay Aquarium has some amazing lifelike whale sculptures hanging from the ceiling, would love to see something like this.
WOW It's been a while since I made those signs for you, and the park looks nothing like how I got it back then, so many improvements! Crazy stuff, no matter how long it'll take to get to episode 6, I already know the wait is going to be worth it!
