Te Irirangi: "Ka mutu ana taku korero Ka mutu ana taku waiata Kia tau ki te ahuatanga o te M āori, Kaua e pakipaki mai!" Crowd: 👏🏼👏🏽👏🏽 Te Irirangi: 🤦🏾♂️
I rather have a lot of these old groups to nowadays 2000 of so onwards. To many fancy movements today loses a natural flow of choreography; the singing, the pukana , the mahi-a-ringa. Heoi ano. Kiaora ki nga roopu Kapa Haka.
TE RŌPŪ O TE RARAWA. He ataahua te hokinga māhara o āua rā.
When himene sung with style and sincerity, could lift one's soul heavenwards. I hope we haven't lost our love and the style with which we love to sing himene, esp. the beautiful old ones which we hardly hear being sung now. The standard practice it seems, is to sing ''Whakaaria mai'' at every special event. We are better than this; some invigoration is needed! A choral festival perhaps?
Ae tautoko i feel if a himene is sung with sincerity then style comes in quite graciously but in many social gatherings now himene and waiata are sung more so to entertain the masses without much sincerity koira ko taku whakaaro if you watch the old kapa haka roopu they are not as flashy as roopu of today and not so theatrical about their performance eveen the way they enter the stage the way whakaeke is done much more composed and staged i actually like their way of performing back then it seems more comfortable.
My Mother Lena Pine and my Father George Pine are in this group with my Aunty Janet and uncle joe pine and Aunty Bibi Iwikau and Aunty Girl Jane Takiwa and many more Auntys and Uncles and cousins ❤️❤️
As a young lass I would often sit in and listen to the kaumatua speak on my marae - a passion. I remember this man very impressive as a speaker and elegant/light on feet/quick/ fierce as a performer too. Thank you xo ... aww kia ora mr. Anzac Pikia
