Regarding Scholes' remarks on not feeling like he deserved the medal, I feel it would be incredibly discouraging for any squad player to hear that. Now, every squad player who has earned a medal with their club will likely face this question. While this may be his personal opinion, I believe it could have been kept private. Consider a player like Ji Sung Park, who contributed significantly to United's Champions League campaign, yet didn’t feature in the final. Suggesting that he doesn’t deserve his medal simply because the manager didn’t select him for that particular match (ie final) seems unfair.
I can remember going mad at that 99 CL final team selection. Like “what is he doing?” We didn’t play well and we were unbelievably lucky. But what a night. Best ever. Great podcast, good to listen to you both. 👍
Love the last part where he said it was the only time the manager let go, it’s nice to know he celebrated properly with his players after their achievement
Love it guys and thanks for everything you did for our great club I have so many great memories of you both playing and it’s great to see that you still love the club Keep up the good work and we look forward to the next episode 😊
I remember that parade vividly such a wicked vibe throughout Manchester. Me and my bro were two of the youngsters on lamp post not in this image but somewhere on this parade run whether further down or higher up to this image. I remember somebody from the bus i think it was Schmeichel chucked my brother the cap he wore and he just caught it. This was a special moment and still to this day i have no clue what happened to that cap, part of me thinks it was stolen after my brother took it school.
Ole is a legend for his playing days. But as a manager at United he was just embarrassing. 4 seasons and 400 million spent. ZERO trophies. He tried to be 'bros' with his players and that was a major problem. They stepped all over him. He had zero control in the dressing room. Even fans walked out by the thousands in the 60th min against Liverpool at Old Trafford. This is a lesson to all football clubs. Never hire a manager based on nostalgia for what they have done as a player.
I’m a Celtic fan … these bhoys are two of the most genuine humble talented footballer probably ever to grace the pitch … I can always remember me an my mates were 12 years of age and some of us Celtic .. arsenal … Liverpool .. United fans but we were out playing football in our street .. new Barnsley park .. Belfast … and we heard our neighbours scream with joy twice in few mins an the street turned into a street party 😂😂😂😂 there our moments on our lives that with stay with us forever that night will always remain an amazing memory regardless who you supported … big bing Celtic fan from Belfast … keep doin your thing lads 💚❤️🍀🇮🇪
Boris becker was on wimbledon telling that he was given the privilege of presenting the cup to bayern if they won it. He started to make his way up to the podium with a couple of mins left by which time united scored the 2 goals 😂
This is great because it's making Scholes think because when he does punditry he generally doesn't tend to remember these little anecdotes as much so it's interesting to hear him on the past successes. Bet he loves being a podcast presenter!
Remember getting home from work shattered. Seen the Bayern goal next minute waking up with United picking up the trophy 😳😂 had to buy the dvd to watch the full match 😂
When everyone talks about the final and says Bayern could have been 3-4 nil up, its only in the last 15 mins when Utd threw caution to the wind. Agreed, Utd didn't play well, but after the goal around 7mins, Bayern's next shot on target was 75 minutes.
Great video! I was there - easily the best 2 days of my life (and my first game was us vs Barcelona in 83 which was alright as well, but I was 9 and don’t remember it much). I get why, but Scholesy is too modest about the win - him and Roy were why we were in the final that year. Could we just have this every week? 😂
