Does this work in 2024 with ableton 12 ? Would I be able to make a custom controller mapping for the Akai Fruityloops Fire controller and then use it in ableton?
Great video do you assist in helping people setup their own custom mapping and needed help or questions? I have a Apc40mk2 I’m trying to use for dj’ing but ran into few bumps here and there got discouraged. But your video was so helpful too I had to ask 💯
Dude, so I then can just change kicks, without remapping everything again? For example, if Kick is on C2, I can change one billion times Kicks on C2 without remapping for each changed new Kick? And a 2nd Question mate: The build in Shuffle works perfect with own samples? Thx, Felix
Correct, there's no need to remap everything each time. And yes, the shuffle will work on your own samples which are loaded into the Ableton drum rack.
Can I do a conpletely new MIDI remote control surface for Icon Qcon PRO + 3 Qcon EX expanders? Basically new MCU & MCU_XT scripts but with added functionality. So all the usuall stuff, dynamic motorized faders, accurate channel info on LED screens etc…
You can create completely new scripts for those midi controllers. You would need to dig into sending Sysex messages to the controllers for displaying info on LED screens.
You can limit the faders to 0db in your Ableton set up. When assigning the faders to channels, there's also a min and max vol option. Set that to 0db and the fader will be limited.
"The only way to make your own used to mean delving in to Python programming, which, as you're here, I'm guessing you don't want to do". This line had me in tears! You know your customer base well. I think most of us did some research before buying the program and figured out that with enough dedication we could achieve what we wanted for free. But then at some point realised "Nah, fuck it, too much effort. I'd rather pay a guy to do the code sifting for me"
ok but how would you go about controling the volume of tracks in relative position of selected track? The default ableton user script that you can edit with a text file seems to handle tracks in batches of 8 that you can scroll through and I see no option for relative tracks or nudging tracks to modify the volume for. I tried messing around with reacts but its quite hard to navigate due to the massive amounts of information it contains.
Great video! But you guys should really streamline CSS to better handle applying actions to tracks by name. I would never have figured this out on my own! Blessings and thanks..
I don't understand, I would like to use the midimix to control my vst synthesizer, but the faders are automatically mapped to the track volumes, is it possible to clear all the presets to be able to use the fader for controllers what I want ?
@@remotify It doesn't work, I'm in midi mapping (blue mode) and every time I turn a fader it affects the A/B faders of the scene (I'm in session mode) Impossible to assign them to another parameter...
@@LaTeamRocketII The script itself can be edited using our script editor software Control Surface Studio (a license is required). Aside from that, Ableton usually overrides script functionality when mapped via their internal mapping mode. This is an Ableton Live issue if it isn't working for you.
Could you make it so the controller send default MIDI CC to the plugin you select. So it can change modes and be automatically assigned to the selected plugin by using default Midi mappings instead of having to map manually each of them?
Honestly love the idea, but I gotta say the editor takes soo many clicks to get somewhere, is there a way to map a lot of parameters fast? Instead of duplicating, changing the track, changing the name, changing the button or knob. Just such a tedious thing to do for 4 parameters per track :\
Hi, we overhauled the UI layout in version 2.8 but all of the concepts remain the same. Details of the differences are here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GeMFgf1VRwU.htmlsi=VLEVCWCexpPSZU4K
Can one button be used to cycle through all created modes? Or only a knob? Also is there a tutorial for using a shift button to switch between knob banks (to control macros 9-16 in a rack while shift is pressed)
Can this be used to load an existing midi remote script for a controller and simply edit some of the features? Or does everything have to be set up from scratch?
Hello, and thanks for this informative showcase! I have a quick question: when you press the Solo knob to switch banks between mixer mode and clip/device mode, do you achieve this through the Midimix utility software, or is it coded directly in your Python script (surface script)? It seems like this concept could be implemented using Bome MIDI Translator Pro by switching to a different preset to change the knob functionalities. I'm just curious about how you managed to set this up
Is there a way to catch the current value of a knob or slider in ableton for example the actual cue value and if i turn a potentiometer on a midi device the cue should not jump to the potentiometer value. Instead of this, the pot value changes while turning and if the send pot value matches the value in ableton can than change smoothly. Sorry a bit confusing but you might get the idea behind this. I am shure that this will work but i can't find the right search item to find the solution for this "catch first and do not jump problem"
AMAZING , please do the integration for the TR-8s <3 even considering to exchange for the tr8 for using your great script, can you tell us if ur planning to do the extension to the tr-8s?
For the life of me I cannot figure out how to get my midi fighter to expand devices. Device Navigation isn't working for me... trying to use buttons to switch between devices, but they don't expand when selected.
thanks for the update, it looks really good for creating new scripts, but so far, is not so good for migrating 2.7 to 2.8 scripts. I imported my 2.7 script into 2.8 and each mode-specific mapping requires manual editing to update mode dependency. Since I’ve got over 100 such mappings, migrating the script to 2.8 is a real pain in the butt. What would help a lot is if the import function automatically handled such mode dependencies, or, if that’s not feasible, then, add the ability to select a group of mappings, and then edit one of them, and have that specific edit reflected in all the mappings in the group. For example, this would allow me to check the box in front of all the mappings that needed a specific mode dependenc modification, and then edit one of this group of mappings, and have that dependency updated in all the mappings in the group. without such enhancements, I think I’ll continue to use 2.7.
