Time to talk about something really unpleasant but after the European exit it’s time, a manager holds a position in football in which results are everything, everyone associated with the club had nothing but good wishes for the present manager when he came into post as his first time in that role a lot of lee way was willingly given as he learned his new trade, but there comes a point when that inevitably comes to an end that point in my opinion has now been reached, after nearly three seasons in charge the team is in a sorry state with only an occasional decent performance ,the many failings are there for all to see ,but hurling abuse from the stands is not the way to deal with the situation as all players and managers wish to do their best for the clubs they are associated with. Now is the right time to survey potential targets and I am sure there would be a healthy quota of applicants for the post but what is needed is someone with vision and ability to deliver and would see the position as a challenge and a step up in their managerial career, the person that fits the bill in my estimation is the present Cliftonville boss Jim McGilton
Look at the latest results of teams from Gibraltar or Andorra. They have lots of spanish players who are technically not bad. Teams from Ireland, N.Ireland and Wales play old fashioned football, mostly kick&rush and they are technically worse. Things would change if they start to buy players from Brazil or Africa like RFS Riga from Latvia which destroyed Larne 7:0 on aggregate
From managing in Gibraltar on football manager I agree the league is full of Spanish players mainly 3rd division standard +some Gibraltar players and some foreign talents. When I was Lincoln red imps I was bringing in ageing stars kyle walker, Jordan Henderson ect in and won them trophies.
Dreadful worst ever elimination by a League of Ireland club against overseas club. This shows the Folly of League of Ireland clubs constantly shipping their best talent overseas. All Time Worst ever defeat. Gibraltar are smaller than County Leitrim the Smallest Irish County. @josephfinnegan. The use of the word “Folly” implies that the league of Ireland clubs have some control or means to stop their players going abroad, and that they are voluntarily allowing this to happen. That unfortunately is not the case.

Derry have been knocked out by a team from the mighty Gibraltar league. They'll need to take a long hard look at themselves. Losing to such lowly opponents is simply unacceptable. Thankfully Shamrock Rovers and Shelbourne have progressed, though Shelbourne made hard work of their opponants too.

As an LOI fan deeply disappointed with this result. Maybe the heat played a part. Nevertheless it's still only half-time and it's not over. These chaps from Gibraltar are very beatable and can definitely be turned over in the brandywell.

DC played fairly well and would have been ahead early on except for some top drawer saves from McGinty, ,having addressed the problem of starting games at a leisurely pace trying to play the ball out from the back and getting caught in possession ,the other problem not addressed is the structure of the defence it seems as if this comes as somewhat of an afterthought well-behind the attacking options,it really is a shambles with any team that plays on the break more than likely to win the game ,never win the league with that set up
As a Derry fan for a long time 20+ years, I love these interviews but I want to hear better questions man, I.e.. what are wee going to do to stop Shells... fats is injured all the time...
